Ballooning and Hair Loss

Recently I started ballooning, about 2 weeks ago. This is usually done in the mornings before my PE in the evenings. I was just curious what it was and what were its benefits. I got to admit, the feeling I get from an hour of ballooning is quite fantastic!

I freaked out today when I ran my hands through my hair, and EACH time 2-5 strands of hair dropped out. I wasn’t yanking my hair, just lightly combing through with my hands. And there’s quite a fair bit of hair in my shower grate. No male pattern baldness yet, thankfully.

Reading through the various threads, it seems opinion is divided between whether or not ballooning causes hair loss. I know PE does not cause it, as I been doing it for a few months with no problems. But based on my personal experience, I would think its a fair assumption that ballooning does elevate DHT / testosterone which in turn causes thinning of hair. Do you all have any suggestions for me on what I should do/take? I got the doctor to give me Propecia, and he said that excess testosterone levels do contribute to hair loss.

For the time being, I guess I’m stopping ballooning, and seeing how things go. Wish me luck!

Well I want both, heh.

I’m losing my hair and I don’t give a damn. I once started taking propecia but I stopped after a while and Rogain made my skin dry.

It’s better having high T levels and a big dick than having a nice hair cut. I shave my head and it looks good. About 50% of women like bald men, 50% is enough for me.

And if you don’t like getting bald, do whatever Steven Seagal did. :D

What did Steven Segal do? :P

By the end of the week my bathroom floor corners are loaded with hair. Hair falls out of the human scalp all the time. Ballooning does not cause hair loss.

Unfortunately I don’t know. :)
But in his first movies his hair was pretty thin, then in the late 90’s it came back and now he’s got more hair then ever. ;)

By the way his latest movie: Urban Justice is a very good movie. He’s like in the old days but unfortunately it hasn’t got a theatrical release.

Hair loss is genetically determined. If your mother’s father was bald, the y-chromosome she gave you unfortunately has the bald gene. How much or where you will loose it is determined by many environmental factors. Testosterone (more particularly DHT) is most influential and increasing it may accelerate the process. However, there is no evidence that ballooning increases testoesterone/DHT levels any more than prolonged intercourse with ejaculatory control or multiple orgasms in a session. So my recommendation is to give up sex. Oh wait a minute, celibate monks go bald too. Oh well, nix that recommendation. Just do what Steven Segal did (or Wade Boggs), save your pennies for microfollicular hair grafts.

Correlation does not prove causality. Besides, it seem doubtful that these kinds of effects would be seen in 2 weeks.

My doctor did say that testosterone will bind to the hair follicles and cause them to fall out. Propecia works according to him by binding to the hair follicles instead and preventing them from falling out.

Anyway I’m analyzing my hair this month and will post results.

Yeah, Propecia does that, but it also has a fair amount of side effects: breast tenderness and growth, decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculate, impotence. Do you want to take a drug that cause testicular feminization in a growing embryo if a pregnant mother just touches a tablet? What’s it doing in you? I’d think long and hard (or maybe limp if you take it) .

False analogies do not help here. A fetus under development being exposed to the drug has far different consequences than an adult.

I’ve been on finasteride for many years without ever having a single side effect appear. (Except the good one where my back hair fell out.) Testing during development the drug for hair loss showed less than 2% had significant side effects.

Testosterone does not bind to hair follicles and Finasteride does not stop testosterone it limits the conversion of testosterone to DHT the DHT is what causes the problem with the hair follicle. The problem being is DHT is great stuff except for the hair problem. I’m on Finasteride and I do get limited sides like a slightly reduced sex drive maybe 5% less. And I’m more aggressive when off and I lose weight easier. So if I could find something that worked as well I would be off in a second but nothing works as well.

Hey diplomatico,

Before you consider going on Propecia, I just want to let you know that I tend to think that this drug caused me to have erection problems for a few years. There are a bunch of other guys who also think Propecia gave them ED. I’m not saying that Propecia always causes ED, I’m just suggesting that you might want to do some research before you start taking it.

Here’s my story (the first post only) Pow’s story

You forgot to mention that these side effects happen in less than 2% of cases.
