Circumcision-- What Is It... Really?

Circumcision-- What Is It... Really?

I have seen several threads started here just in the last couple days since my “defection” from another prominent PE forum that spurred me to write a couple posts based on my own little area of interest. Please do not think I am trying to be some kind of sexpert or guru or anything. If what I say makes any sense to you at all, I urge you to do some web searches and find out more about this subject. My writing style is pretty blue collar, like me. I’m not going to start spouting a bunch of medical terms and studies. To be honest, I’m not smart enough to memorize all the references and medical jargon and regurgitate it at will. If you want that, it’s only a “google” away. My best quality as a contributor to a forum is to take info and make connections between it and come out with a bigger picture. Circumcision is an ice berg… there is alot of info about it floating below the surface of common knowledge.

As PEers, our primary goal is the improvement of the sexual organ. Circumcision is an issue that we have to address at some point, whether we want to or not. As circumcision is the surgical altering of our sexual organ, I think it is a subject intrinsic to PE and should be addressed without all the controversy and angst. If you find yourself becoming angry or upset about this subject, you need to ask yourself why you feel this way. If you don’t want to pursue this avenue of thought, I urge you to ignore any posts by kong with the word “circumcision” in it. This info has bruised egos, threw men into depression and infuriated them. I’m not sure why, because it doesn’t bother me that much, but some men seem to have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, or feel like I’m trying to put them down or something. If you have a fragile self-image or a bloated ego, please read no further. I’d rather not be attacked again for my ideas.

Circumcision— what is it… really?

Circumcision has been around for all of recorded history. In earliest times, it was performed on slaves and conquered foes as a way to oppress and mark them as inferior. It was used as a tool of control, to reduce the sexual interest and enjoyment of their “cattle” humans. It has evolved since then, as cultures met and mingled, becoming a mark of godly covenant in one culture, a rite of passage in another, and a medical necessity in nomadic desert tribes where water for cleansing was not readily available. Some few enlightened cultures like the ancient Greeks and Romans recognized it for what it was and outlawed the practice, protecting the genital integrity of males much as we protect the genital integrity of females in our modern American culture.

The basic purpose of circumcision is to reduce the size of the penis and diminish the capacity for sexual stimulation and desire.

While some of you may already know this, I’m sure there are quite a few young men saying, “I thought it was just to make it cleaner!”

I know it is a hard pill to swallow. I have experienced the “kill the messenger for the message” phenomenom over this. I fully expect some of you to go after me hard about this, and others to deny it [ “MY penis is very sensitive. Nothing wrong with me!”] but like the popular TV show used to say, “The truth is out there.” If you have been circumcised, your penis is damaged and you have lost a large degree of sexual stimulation.

Circumcision was not widely practiced in the US before the late 1800’s. At the start of the Industrial Revolution, here in the United States, a religious mania swept through the country. As industrialization changed the way we lived, there was a great upwelling of anxiety and fear. Children left for the cities where there were jobs. Husbands left the fields to work in the factories. Life as they knew it was being altered. In such an era of change, comfort was sought in religion, and the culprit of this widespread unease became the pastor’s old favorite: sexual sinfulness… and in particular, maturbation. Although it may sound absurd to us now, that’s how we all ended up with circumcised dicks in this modern 21st century America. Fear from the Industrial Revolution creating a religious mania, which lead as usual to sexual repression. Masturbation was touted as a great evil, draining the vitality of men, leading them to insanity, wickedness, and physical illness. Hungry for solace and comfort in that drastically changing time, people readily accepted the answer of religion. What, they pleaded, can we do about all this sexual sinfulness and masturbation?

Up stepped one Dr. Kellogg and his associates. Yes, Dr. Kellogg, creator of Kellogg’s corn flakes. The answer to all this sexual sinfulness, he and his consorts assured the american public, was circumcision. Not only did it reduce the size of that wicked and insidious organ, it basically removed most of the parts that made sex feel so good. What followed was a foreskin holocaust. Circumcision was practiced widespread. The service was offered by doctors, travelling salesmen and even barbers. Babies, boys and girls, were strapped down and sexually mutilated for the crime of touching their naughty parts. Boys in that era were circumcised. Girls had their clitoris melted off with acid. They picked no bones about it. They knew that circumcision was strictly a method of reducing sexual pleasure and desire, and that’s how they advertised it, and that’s why people had it done. It was the “in” thing. If circumcision was not your thing, you could order a wide assortment of pleasure reducing devices out of catalogs. Restraints to keep your hands from wandering “down south”, collars with sharp pointed objects on the inside to be placed on the penis, chastity belts, chastity underwear… I hope you’re getting the picture.

One other thing about circumcision was discovered at that time, too.

Circumcision was a profitable business.

To understand what something is, you have to know the truth about it. Today I kind of described the history of circumcision here in the US and the motives of its genesis. When the tradition of circumcision was born here in the United States, it wasn’t about hygiene or preventative medicine — these lies were created and perpetuated later to keep the profitable business of circumcision going— it was about sexual repression and penile reduction. Our “tradition” of genital mutilation is an anachronistic hold-over from that period of religious mania and fear, and every time I read a thread about someone not being able to “get it up” or “having a hard time keeping a good hard on” it makes me just want to scream out the truth. You’ve been damaged! We’ve been scammed, and it’s high time we, as a gender, do something about it!

Hi Kong,

If you want to avoid a brouhaha (and it sounds like you do), it might help to provide sources for your information.

In my not-so-humble opinion, what irks me the most is the high horses bullshit about privacy and personal freedom as a reason to continue allowing people cutting skin off of babies. That is intellectual dishonesty - it is about the parent’s freedom to choose, not about the baby’s freedom to choose. And I don’t think the parent has the right to make that choice for their baby. The baby does, at the age of 18 (or 21 or whatever).

Funnily enough, this wasn’t an issue for me until I started PE.

Interesting post. I’m Jewish, and obviously circumcised.

I wonder to myself, and have discussed it with others, including girlfriends, many subjects related to being Jewish, and its various traditions. I haven’t been brought up observant at all really.

We observe certain holidays very lightly: we light candles on Chanuka, sometimes we get together with extended family for Passover. I was Barmitzvah, but I only went to Sunday school for a few months before to learn what I needed, and when I wasn’t hanging out the back smoking with a pal, I was jerking around in class.

My cultural identity is important to me, and although I feel that I would marry whoever I fall in love with, regardless of race, I do feel that it would be a shame to let all the traditions that 3000 years or more worth of generations of my fathers, have upheld and suffered persecution for.

Circumcision is something I am not sure I would like to do to any sons I have, but it’s no small deal for me to make that decision.

Having said that, I myself am considering embarking on foreskin restoration, but I have little to no excess skin between my circ. scar, and my glans, so I don’t know if I’m suitable. I know that I can push my glans in towards my body so that my penis sort of becomes inverted. Maybe I can do it that way.

Obviously if I do go ahead with foreskin restoration, it would then be hypocritical to circ. my children, if I ever have any.

Also: How does circ. reduce the size of ones penis? It’s only a little bit of skin, surely?

Cheers,

Zig

On a flaccid dick it looks shorter.

Circumcision can remove up to half of the tube of penile skin.

Preach on Brotha Kong! Amen!

"We have met the enemy, and he is us."

I know how the “preach on” comment was meant, but we all know that some people have an aversion to preaching. State facts and people will make up their own minds. Also remember some people already have their minds made up on this one. By preaching too hard you may push people off that you could have otherwise reached. :)

O fucking horseshit dude.

Like Para-Goomba said, If you want to prevent a flame war then don’t start it in the first place.
Don’t post opinion based statements as facts, and do provide the emperical evidence to back up your statements.
Although, any such evidence to back such statements would probably just be someone else’s opinion also or some bullshit survey construed to back up someone’s bullshit opinion.

What I want to know is how the fuck circumcision “reduces the size of the penis” if the foreskin rolls back out of the way during an erection anyways? Do you mean the flacid look? A big flacid is nice, but ask any chick and she’ll tell you it’s the BPEL they’re most concerned with. And I refuse to believe that that little membrane can have any substantial effect on girth at all. That silly ass shit about chaffing your shaft by masturbating from the last cut/uncut thread was, well the silliest shit I ever read. Maybe you should think about washing the grit off your hands before jacking off. I’ve never pulled the skin off my dick squeezing one out. But I realize there are some heavy pud pounders out there who really do think they’re choking a chicken. In which case I guess you’ll have to be responsable for your own damage, cut or uncut.

If you’re proud of your uncircumcised wanker, then good times to you.

My father was uncircumcised. My brother and I are both circumcised. My father always said that we were lucky to have it done because I was easy to keep ones self clean. Plus I have heard of terms like ‘head cheese’ and ‘ripped fore skin’ while growing up. It is for these reasons that when ever I see or saw an uncut person the first thing that jumps into my mind is “dirty dick”

So, yes, I am prejudiced about being circumcised. We live in a prejudice world. And there may be no scientific data for my “dirty dick” impression. But that is what pops into my head when I see foreskin-“dirty dick” No apologies—that was the culture and the family in which I was raised. I had no quams about having my 3 boys circumcised.

"Drunk chics dig me."

I can see how, in some circumstances where a lot of skin is removed and one ends up with a “tight” circumcision as an infant, that it might limit the growth somewhat. Perhaps. What I don’t see is that circumcision in this country (the US) was promoted for that purpose. I’d like to see the source for that, too, kong.

Sorry Thunder,

I fought the urge to respond on the last 2 circumcision threads.
This morning I just couldn’t contain myself any longer - probably the coffee.
It’s probably as good I didn’t type what I was actually thinking…

I for one am going to refrain from posting in these threads anymore.

Although if anyone can show me - pictures, diagrams, etc, of just how circumcision reduces the size of a penis I would be very very interested in viewing the material.

No problem RC. I don’t think it is the topic that gets people going as much as it is the presentation. We have been down this circ road a hundred times here already. Some good threads, some not so good threads. Hopefully this one will turn around.
