Condom timing: When do you put it on before intercourse?

Okay, that makes sense to me. I know exactly what you’re describing. It’s never happened to me during intercourse (I can feel those very mild pre-orgasmic ejaculatory contractions), but it has happened by accident during masturbation when I was doing some “extreme edging.” Combine that with the problems I’ve had with condoms, and I’m never very comfortable, pregnancy-wise, without hormonal contraception. I’m hoping they can figure out that “male pill” sometime soon.

(My condom problems, [ironically?,] seem to stem from my excessive volume of precum. Condoms invariably slip off after I’ve been at it for a while.)

That is an ironic problem. Most guys, it seems, want to ooze it and you ooze the rubber right off. Have you tried the ones (several of them) that have less girth at the bottom; eg, a tighter ring there?

I have actually heard that precum DOES contain some sperm. There have been situations where girls get pregnant without the guy ejaculating.

I haven’t — what’s an example brand?

The least likely to slide off, for me, has been the Magnum XL. I think that the slight “tapering” shape of my dick contributes to the problem, so I don’t know if a tighter base might actually make it slip off more. It’s worth a try though! Thanks for the suggestion.

hmm youre right avocet, nicely done

The thing is there’s little to NO empherical evidence to support this.
Just often repeated BS to keep teenagers from playing.

Dr. Drew & Adam were talking about this just recently on loveline.
The Docs advice:
It’s virtually impossible. You blow a full load up in her and it’s a miracle if one of those little buggers makes it
against the current and actually contacts the island of doom before it croaks. Now we’re suppose to believe
that one took it apon itself to crawl off her leg or outer lips (ass?) in the correct direction of her pussy and then
impregnate her? Also factor in her cycle and ovulation … Doesn’t happen. Drew said even if you blew all over the outside of her pussy, it would damn near impossible to get her pregnant.

The Doc went on to say that he would bet that if a woman was claiming this had happened then the truth was probably closer to:
1. She’s lying. She had unprotected sex with someone else and you’re being pinned.
2. She impregnated herself using your sperm after the fact. Which although not impossible,
is just about as hard since sperm drys and dies rather fast and damages quickly outside of the body. It’s really not that resilent Just don’t leave that used condom in the bathroom right after sex.
Or, take Tom Likus’s advice and put a little tobasco sause in it first - lol.

Back to the question at hand.
Best time to put the condom on?
Let her do it with her mouth.

Hmmm. :)

Then why is it that the withdrawal method of contraception is the least realiable? Lots of babies out there as a result of withdrawal. Do their daddies hips not flex fast enough, or what?

The MagnumXL, though wide over most of its length, does taper in considerably at the base. If you are using wider condoms now, your options are fewer. Condomania | Official Store - Condoms, Lube, Sex Toys has an easily accessed “stat” section for the brands they offer. You can compare lengths, widths, tapers there.

From what women have told me, many guys outright fail to pull out because it feels so good (not that I know women who rely exclusively on withdrawal - but as a backup method). Plus, like you said, some guys can go over the “edge” a tiny bit without even realizing it (without full orgasm). I doubt precum is a contributor.

The only situation in which I’d be concerned that precum contained sperm is if you had very recently ejaculated and hadn’t pissed afterwards. In that case it seems plausible that some sperm may be left in the urethra and may “hitch a ride” in the next fluid to exit (precum). The number would be pretty darn low (in the “infertile” range), but pregnancy could still potentially occur.

In any case, I’m paranoid about pregnancy, so I always combine two methods: (1) pill (or other hormonal method) & condom, (2) pill & withdrawal (I know my timing exactly and have never messed that up), or (3) condom & withdrawal (I’ve had plenty of condom mishaps, so I always pull out still).

When you pull out WITH a condom where do you ejaculate?

Seyz — on her tits or whatever. I withdraw about 20 seconds before I cum in the condom-only case, since I’ve had so many condom mess-ups and I don’t want to take risks. Call me paranoid :)

I would have to guess (and from my own experience) That it’s because most guys using the “pull out method”
try and wait until the last possible micro second before actually pulling out and end up blowing a good portion of their load before getting out.

So as far as “do there daddies hips not flex fast enough?” goes, I would have to say it has more to do with the fact that most talking monkeys are just plain ignorant of what they are actually doing.

I think what Drew was saying was that from a sound medical stand point, it’s virtually impossible.
But if you add in human error and the ignorance factor - then you’re in trouble.

Lucky for me this is a dead issue anyways. I’ve had a vasectomy. I can fuck away with the knowledge that my
wallet, paycheck, and bank account are secure.

Do you tell her you are going to do that? Has the women ever had any disagreements?

Seyz - Yes, they’re aware of it… Most aren’t that comfortable with condom-only protection against pregnancy, anyway, so they tend to appreciate the extra caution.

The way i see it, if you don’t want kids put it on as soon as possible… Three blocks away is good… hehe It’s alot cheaper that way…
