No it does not. Well, that comes from my fertility doctor. I could go get him to write a statement and get permission to use his name, but as that is highly unlikely you’ll just have to trust me on this one. Now whether or not it picks it up along the way from the urethra or being mixed with sperm from prolonged intercourse is another story, but pure precum contains no sperm.

If it is pure Cowper’s fluid.

Cowper’s fluid contains no sperm, correct. But nobody is going to argue against the possibility of other substances inadvertently collecting along it’s way through the urethra. Pre-cum is what comes out of the penis before ejaculation. So it can contain anything that it picks up. Basically, pre-cum is not necessarily 100% Cowper’s fluid. But is the amount of sperm mixed with the Cowper’s fluid enough to impregnate a woman? Can sperm survive without the cocktail of fluids semen is made up of? Also, will peeing clear the urethra?

Recognize.

The sperm, if any, in pre-ejaculate are almost always dead, or nearly dead, and very few in number. If you don’t have at least 50k live sperm in a regular ejaculate, you are considered infertile.

The problem with withdrawl is in it’s practice, not it’s theory.

It’s been a long time since I have had to worry about impregnating anyone so excuse my ignorance. But if you didnt/dont want a family why would you take a chance by having unprotected sex at all? Be responsible and wear the condom. And what about STD’s doesnt that come into the equation?

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

To be fair, I know it saves many lives and embarassment through preventing the spread of STDs, but I think the whole “safe sex” argument has gona a bit far now. No one can dispute the fact that condoms reduce the pleasure for the guys, and probably for the ladies too, since the penis is far more textured than a smooth condom. Anyway I feel the safe sex activists have gone too far in that now people in STD free monogomous relationships refuse tohave sex without a condom because they don’t want children. Fair enough, but too far in my view if she is on the pill.

I remember having many conversations about this sort of thing with my recently ex-gf. Despite her denying it, the message I got out of it was that until she wanted children we would rarely have unprotected sex, even though we were both clean and faithful. I just found that a little unfair considering she was on the pill and condoms do nothing for me sensation-wise. I mean, I know its good to be safe, but a 99% effective condom and a 99% effective pill don’t necessarily make 100% anyway. I think its a real shame that nowadays people are missing out on the better side of sex. No wonder a lot of people (both sexes) come on forums such as these saying “I’ve just had sex, and it really isn’t worth all the hype!” I used to say that myself, but the two times in two and a half years that I did have unprotected sex with my ex showed me otherwise.

I guess the only way this trend can be reversed (aside from finding cures and vaccines for every STD - but I’m purely talking about faithful relationships without STDs anyway) is for the scientists to hurry up with the male pill! I for one can’t wait for it! :D

Anyway, I seem to be back on form for going completely astray from the topic at hand! :p

Just out of interest, since a lot of people here seem to have a lot of knowledge or links concerning such things, does anyone know of any male pill tests going on in the UK that I could join? :)

Start: 22 Mar 04: 6.5" BPEL x 4.6" EG & 6" head. As at: 1 Jan 05: 7.5" BPEL x 4.8-4.9" EG & 6.3" head.

Re-re-start!: 6 Feb 17: 6.9" BPEL x 4.9" EG & 5.5" head. As of: 23 Feb 17: 7.0" BPEL x 5.0" EG & 6.0" head.

Ideal: ASAP: 8+" BPEL x 5.5+" EG & 6.5+" head But will continue if the going is good!!

But thatthickunit, if you’re not in a relationship or don’t know for sure if she’s being faithful to you, or she isn’t on the pill, then do as 789 says:

Fill a glass with sperm and get your girl to drink it, tell her to remember the taste - then ask her to try some precum and to see if she recognises it.

There, fool-proof test ;)

May the force (of your hand) be with you. :littleguy

Pre-cum always arrives from the penis when pleasure is received, I wouldn’t be surprised if semen was involved with it slightly too as it is also released this way. Unless you have INCREDIBLE control of your ejaculation, but that is very rare.

Ugh I still don’t know if it contains any semen even after this whole thread. If you look online it will tell you both theories many times over, if anyone can prove it post now!

It doesnt taste like it…hmm?

789 has it right.

Start Date Nov 05 2006: BPEL (5.50) NBPEL (5.0) E .Girth(4.75) F. Length(4.00) F. Girth(4.25)

Last Meas June 14 2007: BPEL (7) NBPEL (6) E .Girth(5.50) F. Length(4.125) F. Girth(4.50)

Whichever theory you hold to, you’d be wise to assume that pre-cum CAN, POSSIBLY, MAYBE SOMETIMES include sperm.

A little off topic, but the talk about the “pull out method” or “withdrawal method” to prevent pregnancy reminded me of a riddle…

What do you call people who use the withdrawal method for birth control?

mommy and daddy!

:_pump: :donatecar

Allow me to clarify things a bit.

1. Never has there been a reliable large-scale study of scientific value on the question whether male pre-ejaculate contains viable sperm cells or not. So the short answer to the question is: "We do not know for sure as of yet."

2. There have been, however, several small-scale studies throughout the world during which the pre-ejaculate of some male probands has been shown to not contain viable sperm cells. The long answer in short is:

  • In most of the test subjects, no sperm cells whatsoever were present in the pre-ejculatory fluid. Zero. Rien. Nichts.
  • In some test subjects, very small lumps of sperm cells were present. However, they seemed to be completely immobile and thusly no way able to fertilize a female egg.
  • In every HIV-positive man’s pre-ejaculate, the HI virus could easily be found during the tests (the researchers intentionally picked HIV-positive and HIV-negative males).
So even if precum doesn’t contain sperm (which, as it seems at the moment, does not), it is still important to protect oneself through condoms. If you don’t know the sexual history of your partner or status of health that is (and of course if you don’t know your health status either)

Link #2

Go check ‘em, it’s not much text to digest. :)

Later,
Wally

P.S.: Until this question is decided, always act under the assumption that pre-cum does contain viable sperm and don’t make any direct contact with your partner’s genitals. Better safe than sorry in this case.

P.P.S.: The Wikipedia article on the withdrawal method states that it is quite a relaible method of contraception if done correctly. I have the most serious doubts on the factual correctness of that article.

Et... la nuit se continue. C\'est vrai. Elle est complètement dechirée - ma tête.

I agree, Wally. It would be reliable if all of us had total control over our reproductive fluids, and I mean total.

We don’t.
