Erections And Ed

Having a prostate problem, being treated with medication, a normal erection is harder than it used to be, I now use Viagra, to make love. Pumping gives me a good enough erection to jelq and stretch. To make a long story short, are there any other members out there with the same situation? Have any tips to pass along?

You might consider supplementing with L-Arginine (LA), an amino acid that is precursor for nitric oxide, the very, very short lived (5 sec.) gas that causes erections.

Erection difficulty is a known side effect of Proscar. It’s the same medication as Propecia (only five times stronger) which is used for hair loss and men on Propecia are warned about the possibility of having erection problems while taking it. If one milligram of finasteride can cause problems, five millgrams certainly will.

I was on that for a while-for the same reason….after using it for about a year, I decided that it wasn’t worth the side effects. I talked it over with the urologist, and we decided to try something else. I’m currently taking saw palmetto.

It should be noted that the Proscar did help, and maybe got me to the point where I didn’t need to take it any longer.

Viagra is certainly an option, seemed to work quite well, but gave be a headache and “blue” vision.

I don’t need the Viagra to get it up, just use it on occasion to “enhance”.

Hey-you could look at this as an opportunity to coax your partner into addittional stimulation-that worked wonders for me…LOL

Lycopene (found in tomatoes) has been shown to help a lot also.

I went in for my first digital exam (dosen’t that sound wonderful….) when I turned 40.
The doc told me I’ve got some good news and some bad news:
Good news-there’s nothing wrong with your prostate.
Bad news-you should be 70 years old.

All kidding aside-stay on top of the condition, get your yearly exam, along with the PSA test.

Also shop for a urologist with skinny fingers.

I think that proscar is a definite contributor to your problems. I would recommend saw palmetto and probably alpha blockers like hytrin or cardura and get you off of proscar.

I took Hytrin for a while also-no problems whatsoever.

My uro gave me some Flomax samples couple of years ago…I took Flomax for a couple of days and discontinued use….for me, and I think it’s the general mode of action, caused retrograde ejaculation into my bladder.

flomax is an alpha block similar to hytrin and cardura. Proscar is a blocker of androgens and therefore decreased the hormonal stimulation on the prostate gland to hypertrophy.
