Getting Circumcised

I was circumsized at birth (but still have my frenulum), so I don’t really understand all of the “Foreskin Hoopla”, but I have heard enough talk from guys here whom I trust that I really think I wouldn’t do it at 18.

Remember: surgeons sell surgery. (Nothing against the surgeons.) If you ask one about circumcision, he has an incentive to sell you the surgery.

I’m still going to get circumcised, I’ve already made up my mind about that. But I think now I will keep the frenulum because of the points Redwood and Westla said. I’ll talk to the doctor about getting it loosened a bit.

What does the surgeon have to do to loosen it?

I read the full article linked from westla’s link. Don’t you think that getting the frenuloplasty to correct the problem is worth a try, rather than something as radical as circumcision? Then, once your penis is capable of functioning without causing pain, maybe you will decide to keep what you have.

I can’t imagine a good reason to get circumcised. It makes as much sense as having your earlobes removed, and is actually more harmful.

I think he’s basing his decision on how it “looks” rather than any perceived malfunction. A poor reason for having the surgery, IMO.

evsta: Since you’re set on going through with this, at least report back to us afterwards. Not many are able to make an actual pre- & post- comparison.

I guess my frenulum isn’t as tight as I thought it was because I’ve never had any pain or torn it or anything like that.

RubberbandMan - I don’t know if that’s true for all surgeons because the one I saw recommended not to do it since there’s no need for me to.

Westla - That site with the pictures of the baby made me gag, lol. I probably can’t get you to think that there is a good reason that I’m getting circumcised so I’m not even gonna try.

Excuse my french, but this is the biggest bullshit I’ve ever heard in my life. An uncircumcised dick doesn’t smell any different than a circumcised one. The secret lies in personal hygiene, my friend. I had numerous girls tell me that I’m the cleanest one they have had. My current GF even goes as far as saying that uncircumcised cocks are a lot more fun to play with, since, according to her, the glans doesn’t feel like leather in her mouth.

It’s a misperception that circumcised dicks don’t smell. There are some real baddies out there.

And do me a favor and run a spell check or read the forum guidelines before submitting your response.

Before you make an irreversible alteration to your dick, please do a Google search for “Ridged Band Specialized Sexual Tissue”. It is be far the best explanation of the function of the foreskin I have ever read and will tell you things that you never would have guessed about that marvel of engineering that you are about to separate from your body for the rest of your life. Please read and then think carefully. Function is far more important than aesthetics.

I agree women might prefer the look of a circumcised unit - I just saw some program on tv ‘nip and tuck’ where the gf didnt want to have sex because he wasnt circumcised lol. jeeez. This might be true sometimes in extreme cases (Iam thinking thats pretty dam silly, people can be) but you should concentrate on just increasing your size so that you always look circumcised when aroused. That way you get the benefit of both worlds! Surgery just isnt worth the risk man.

But it was a television program.. The media has no problem perpetuating myths about circumcision “benefits” while anti-circumcision arguments are too controversial to cover fairly. For most Americans, not having a large portion of their kid’s penises amputated as soon as possible after birth would be far too dangerous/weird/controversial to consider.

My son is two years old and intact, and we didn’t even consider circumcision despite how strongly it was suggested.
