Shit, I can’t believe those fuckers sterilized you at such a young age. Hope this girl is worth it.
1. She is, and it’s something I’ve had a relatively long time to think about (we talked about it the first week that we started dating if I recall). Also, it was a mutual decision. An unplanned pregnancy is just isn’t something we want to risk since we’re not financially stable and don’t really want kids in the first place.
I have a buddy who is 26 and isn’t in the best position to have kids at the moment either, although he definitely wants them. He says that sometimes he goes bareback with his fiance (who is on birth control, I think) anyway and says that if she was to get pregnant, it would just mean that the child bearing starts early and they’ll find a way to make it work. That’s not me.
2. It’s not their fault. I was presented with the facts and told them in no uncertain terms that I understood the pros and cons and wanted it done. As far as I know, any any decent urologist would have performed it as well given the same situation and informed consent.
3. I personally know of many successful adoptions (friends of mine or the family) from both the parents and the children. We both agreed that we would adopt if we change our minds. I can sleep at night knowing that.
