Herpes Talk Tonight.

Well, I have a new girl I’ve been seeing and we’ve been on a few dates and she’s driving an hour away late at night tonite after a work meeting to come over here and drink wine, and watch a movie, and probably spend the night.

Well all joking aside I have the Herpes Simplex Virus 2 or Genital Herpes and tonite I have to have ‘the talk’ with her, so hopefully everything will go right as rain, and she’ll stay over

I know I’ve been a little moody in here lately and its because ‘the talk’ can be very stressful with a non infected partner, so I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

No, its not like you bring it up during casual conversation, there must be some attraction and friendship, and ‘trust’ just a little before you spring it on someone. Typically the reaction is good, most people just need to be educated on what exactly it is. Then you break down the percentage chance you have of passing it on to them. For me, after 10 years, my chances of giving Herpes to someone are less than a half of 1%. I have had two relationships with girls over a year and neither were infected and neither got it.

I typically do it soon enough to where there are no strong feelings yet, but late enough so that there is more of an open dialogue between people, plus a couple glasses of wine for me definitely makes it easier, but in the long run its not a huge deal…the person that gave it to me didn’t tell me they had it, but I give the people I like a chance to make a choice…its respect.

I think it is awesome you tell the people you are going to sleep with your situation. I hope her reaction is what you want.

Well we made out a lot but that was it, so the talk didn’t happen. I will have to tell her I have it this week though, I should just get it over with ugh, I hate this part…

The woman I lost my virginity to told me, before we did the deed, that she had herpes. My head kind of spun in a loop for a few seconds, too many thoughts to recount. She reassured me (not overly — that would’ve made her sound disingenuous) that it wouldn’t be infectious unless the skin showed the usual obvious signs.

It took me a few seconds to collect my thoughts, and the one thing that convinced me it was the right thing to do, was that she was honest when she didn’t have to be.
