Isotretinoin effect to penis growth when teenager

Isotretinoin effect to penis growth when teenager

Isotretinoin (Accutane) acne medication is known for it’s anti androgenic effects. Also it’s anti growth hormone effects. It can even stop height growth. I took 3-4 month course of with high dose 1 mg/kg when I was 15 and quite bad acne broke up. It gave me quite bad side effects and pushed me to depression for many years. I have wondered did it stop my penis from growing. I was 15 and hormones were going high and causing acne and other changes in body. Dick had grown to 15 cm (6”) bp and 13cm (5.1”) and after that it did not grow any more.

I was high androgen young man. I started to grow beard at age of 14 and I am hairy as gorilla. I put on muscle easily and was gifted athletically. My dad has significantly bigger flaccid dick than me, though he is much shorter and smaller than me. He is 173cm and I am 186cm height. I have this doubt that taking isotretinoin high dose (60mg/day) for 3-4 months when hormones were raging and dick was growing, I halted by dick growth and my genetic code had maybe somewhat bigger dick in mind.

Does anyone has information about if isotretinoin can stop penis from growing during puberty? Drugs acne clearing properties are usually for life, so it changes something permanently/long term. It is just not that time you take the drug.

For me and all adults it does not matter if it affected penis growth. You just have to do more PE if you are not satisfies. But it would be interresting to know if that poison can affect penis growth too and warning to all teenage guys.

That drug you took according to the vast majority of research has no long term effects.

Ok. But it is not adviced to use it before full maturation and growth. Altering DHT, GH, and androgen receptors before full maturation does not sound good.

It has been reported to halt bone growth. So it is plausible it alters penis growth too

“Isotretinoin is a retinoid used as standard therapy for high-risk neuroblastoma and has been reported to cause premature epiphyseal growth plate arrest.”

So having a face full of pimples and the scars they can leave behind is a good thing?

Again this topic came to mind.

Acne scars are bad. The only acne type one should use isotretinoin for is the type of acne that cause scars. And even then I would not use it as teenager. There is another less harmful ways.

Isotretinoin has been showed to cause 2,6 fold decrease in androgen receptor binding capacity.
Some 20-30 % decrease in serum dht. In some studies testosterone too. 60-70 % decrease in growth hormone. 30 % decrease in igf-1.

All that when your dick is growing and growth of it is dependant on androgens and growth hormone. It is only logical that this drug affects it. Also causing one to have less nightly erections when growing dick gets nutrients.

In my mind only question that remains is does penis growth continue after isotretinoin is stopped or does it affect permanently the end penis size.

Terrible idea to give anti-androgens to growing pubertal male! Ziisus that should be illegal.

It’s likely nobody thought to look, and after a drug is approved, the only time anyone looks at it again is if legal action is likely.

Yeah, that’s what they said about Thalidomide, a “safe over-the-counter sleeping pill.”

That’s true.
I am actually amazed that in many studies they see decrease in many hormones and androgen receptors. And conclude positively “Yeah! Isotretinoin is an anti-androgen and so it cures acne. What a great drug!”. But no mention to negative effects of anti-androgenic action.

If I would be teen now I would use topical azelaic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Maybe with oral antibiotic if necessary. The face was only place I had acne.
