Managing Testosterone

What are the symptoms and signs beyond what I know of: tiredness, lack of drive and energy, weaker libido, weaker erections, etc.?"

He said it just like this to me: "Do you get erections?" I said yes, no problem. "Can you maintain an erection for pleasure and orgasm? Does everything function down there as normal?" I said yes, it does. He said, "I’m (can’t remember what age he said, I think 62) and I don’t have problems with my erections; I eat healthy and exercise regularly, just like you do. Keep your cholesterol levels where they need to be, keep active and don’t worry about it. If anything changes then we can figure it out."

I then asked "what about T tests, when do I need to think about getting one? Should I think about it?" He replied, "Only if there’s a change and you notice major differences. Don’t think or worry about it and maintain your normal life; if there’s a change, come back in."

I know there’s a lot more to T levels and health than just "do you get a boner?" question from your doctor. But to him, its a good indicator of a lot: blood flow, diet, cardiovascular health, T, stuff like that. He’s a big "eat healthy and exercise and you will be healthy" kind of doctor, not fast to prescribe any meds. God I’ve been in for major low back pulls in the past and the most he ever gave me was some muscle relaxers, just like 8 of them small dose, to help me stand and sit for a few days after a bad pull in 2017. I couldn’t even lean over to turn the faucet on for a shower it hurt so bad. I took those pills for 2 days and tossed the rest.

Reading this thread is inspirational and makes me want to keep at it with my workouts, keep up my Vit D and other vitamin/supplements (recently added magnesium, wow I can feel the difference!!) and kick the sugar and eat more fresh food more often!! Thanks to everyone sharing their stories and struggles :)

Vitamin D and magnesium both excellent but you should really add zinc to that.
But this…
Doctor, You get a boner"?
Yea.
Your T level’s fine.

I do hope everyone here knows that’s just not true. By the time T- levels get that low that you wouldn’t get a boner or have difficulty getting one due to a lack of T it’s very possibly you have developed diabetes or cardiac disease along with that ED due to a lack of T. You don’t want to not know your T-level when you’re feeling good. It’s valuable info for you. And I highly recommend you get one now and insist it’s the LCMS version, not the cheapo test. This will give you an idea of what YOUR body feels like at that level. You are heading for the big five O…get ready…it’s going to drop. Like it or not. Get your levels drawn. And don’t forget, you want Total, Free, SHBG the whole ball of wax. Don’t want to go to your doctor just to ask him for lab work? Then don’t. Go through discount Labs and order your own lab work. Ya know ultimately, it’s your body, your life. Take control of your health. And with men, we NEED to know our T levels. A 20 year old walks around with very high levels, that’s why he’s a dog in heat yes? But consider that according to Times magazine, our great grandfather’s had 5 times more testosterone than boys do today. So if you started out much lower than you should have been and then take into account each passing decade past your second lowers your test considerably, chances are, it’s lower than you think..https://www.dis countedlabs.com … e-hormone-tests

I found a study or paper where doctors were arguing that DIM / IC3 (active ingredient in cruciferous vegetables) is an androgen blocker too, so if it blocks estradiol AND testosterone it doesn’t sound so good to me.

Update: Found it

~1997 age 18 I was 4.7" BPEL and somehow grew either because I wasn't done growing and or some PE work to a bit under 6 inches without measuring or noticing progress at the time. Girth has always been about 6 inches but is slowly getting larger 6.2" at widest

Current BPEL after a little work is 6.2" also, Bone pressed stretched flaccid 6.5" Will update with gains.

Wow if I wanted a fire and brimstone response I would’ve asked for one!! Thanks for nothing but a freak out

I had to go on post-exposure prophylactic treatment over the summer (taking ARVs immediately after risky sex in case you contracted HIV), and the side effects were awful. It was the sickest I’ve ever been in my life, and I could only make it two and a half weeks into the month I was supposed to take them for. This isn’t a solution, and few people could afford this or be able to put up with the side effects for simply preventative reasons, especially in developing countries where HIV hits the hardest. About steroids, you should be careful. I would recommend getting safe supplements since they can get risky. On (mod deleted link) you can find some good products.

Testosterone Therapy

Hi, thanks for posting your experience. Upon turning 51 years old I was feeling lethargic symptoms and had the same concerns. I started testosterone injections almost 2 months ago. 1 shot daily 15 units. At about the 1 month mark I noticed significant shrinkage in my testicles ( doctor notified me this would happen), but also increased libido and erection quality.

I’m wondering what to expect for the future? Any long term reports to help me ? Any comments or advice are helpful. Thanks!

My testosterone/estradiol level looked just fine… for a fifteen year old girl.

It took several months to get an endocrinologist consult. In the meantime, after a hint by memento, I took a look at xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens in foods, packaging, and skincare products. It wasn’t practical to avoid everything. By the time the endo ran a her own tests, my testosterone had improved from “practically nonexistent” to merely “lower than normal.”

The endo gave me a prescription for testosterone injections. I’m not sure if there’s any dose calculation involved; everyone I’ve talked to has had the same 200mg, twice a month prescription I got.

The Pfizer web site for their brand of testosterone says the half-life of an injection is about 8 days. Therefore, I started off by splitting the dose in half and injecting weekly, so I avoided the “roller-coaster” effect some people have reported.

The first few weeks I noticed libido was still trending sharply down when it was time for the next shot; lately, no real change. I’ve only been on TRT for two months, though. I’ve noticed a slow but definite increase in libido, the “mental fog” has rolled back some, and I have more interest in life in general. For the couple of years before, everything was… flat. I’ve heard people on anti-depressants and anti-convulsives describe how they dissociated they felt when on their meds; that was how I felt all the time.

Some people have talked about how TRT changed their lives from the first dose; it seems to be working slowly for me, but I’m still seeing improvement. I’m not complaining.

About the same time I started TRT I went on a fairly strict keto diet. Some of the claims for keto are fewer allergy or immune system issues, improvement in some types of arthritis, etc. So far the weight loss has been minor, and I can’t tell what effects are due to TRT and which are due to keto, but the usual “first I wake up, and then everything goes downhill from there” has changed to “takes a while to get going, but she’ll be alright mate.”

Yes, feeling flat. Good way to put it. I also have improved in that way. Wasn’t sure at first if it was just mental that I was taking action , or the TRT was working. Optimism is definitely up for me.

Vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, boron, healthy fats, quality sleep, sex, weight lifting, anti-stress habits (yoga, meditation), oh and here’s a fun one: icing your balls.

Icing balls? What benefits can be expected?

Look it up on YouTube my man. 🤓
Been proven to raise testosterone, not scientifically but many have tested this by taking before and after test tests.
