Varicocele

I also have it in the left testicle. You’d likely know you have it if the veins leading to it are noticeably bigger on the side with it, and would feel like a “sack of worms” as the doctor I saw as a kid so eloquently called it. Earlier in the year I was tested for low testosterone, even though I’m 32. I got it tested at like 3pm and it came back at 248, which is like what a 90 year old would have. I was then sent to a endocrinologist who had me retest it at 8am, and also wanted to check my prolactin levels. Well my testosterone came back at like 470, which is better, but still like that of a 60 year old, but my prolactin was higher than the normal ranges. I was put on medicine for 2 months, and retested both, and my testosterone went up to like 650+, which is where it should be for my age, and my prolactin was almost 0, which for a guy is fine, since it is used in the production of breast milk.

I know that varicocele can affect testosterone and fertility, but I don’t think I’ll have kids, so that aspect doesn’t really concern me. But having increased testosterone, and no pain or aches does interest me, which is why I am seeing a urologist to get it fixed.

Varicocele. As I said, taking that medicine to lower my prolactin raised my testosterone, but I still have varicocele. High prolactin actually decreases testosterone, which was why mine was low, or at least one of the reasons. But I want to get rid of my varicocele to fix the pain and aches in my testicle, plus it should help raise my testosterone as well, at least I think it will.

“In men, the most common symptoms of hyperprolactinaemia(high prolactin) are decreased libido, sexual dysfunction (in both men and women), erectile dysfunction, infertility, and gynecomastia. Because men have no reliable indicator such as menstruation to signal a problem, many men with hyperprolactinaemia being caused by a pituitary adenoma may delay going to the doctor until they have headaches or eye problems caused by the enlarged pituitary pressing against the adjacent optic chiasm. They may not recognize a gradual loss of sexual function or libido. Only after treatment do some men realize they had a problem with sexual function.”

How did you feel when you had low testosterone and how do you feel now with your high testosterone levels?Tell me everything you know pls. This really means a lot to me,as I’m 21 years old and i believe i have decreased testorone,at least for my age.I don’t have any gymnecomastia tho or any feminine feature.

Well I was always tired, had weak erections, and no sex drive, although I haven’t had sex in over 3 years so maybe that attributed to my low testosterone. I didn’t have gynecomastia, or breast milk either, plus I am borderline thin as it is. Plus I wasn’t waking up with morning wood, but even now, I still have weakish erections, and morning wood only occasionally, even with higher testosterone than when I was diagnosed with low testosterone and high prolactin. I also have sleep apnea which is taken care of as I have a cpap machine now, so hopefully that is part of the issue as well and will fix any issues I still have.

If you think you might have low testosterone, just ask your doctor to have it tested, and mention testing the prolactin level too since it might be the reason why you could have low testosterone. If you have high prolactin, it could be caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland, but in my case it wasn’t since I had an MRI done to make sure.

It costs a lot a blood test here…Testosterone is like something you have to pay extra to get tested for. When I’m gonna have my own money i will and i hope it’s not too late then.
