An Interesting Measuring Question

There are 7 notches on a measuring tape between an inch. The 4th notch is the half mark, e.g., 5 1/2”. Does anyone know what the other notches are in measure?

I feel stupid asking this question but I want to be accurate when I measure.

For those in the know it would be even better to know what the half way is between one notch and the next too.

If there are 7 notches, then they are 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8 .

If there are 15 notches, they are
1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16

Use centimetres, way more logical and precise.
