I have never had newbie gains or ligament gains so I’m going to try hanging with the bib starter. I jelqed for a few weeks but didn’t like it. I am currently 5 X 4.75 NBPEL. Given the fact that I haven’t had newbie gains yet, is 6 X 5 a decent goal?

Hi sjohnson!

How long have you been doing your routine? Did you start with the newbie routine? It can take months for some to start seeing gains, so don’t be discouraged. I didn’t see much growth in my first month either but have had steady gains by using heat and staying with my routine.

I was jelqing but didn’t like the feeling of it. I haven’t started hanging yet. I wanted to see if anyone had experience with gaining length from hanging. I haven’t had newbie gains or anything yet so I was hoping that going from 5 inches to 6 inches was possible

Gotcha. Jelqing is definitely an art form. It took me a few months to really figure it out. In the beginning it was super awkward but now I feel like my technique is pretty solid. I use an overhand grip to wet jelq and utilize an IR lamp for heat. We’re you doing wet or dry jelq? I’m pretty set on only using manuals exercises but have considered a pump at some point possibly. Going to give it a full year of manual exercises and see how it goes. Quite a few members have made good length gains with pumping (Titleist comes to mind).

I would say that gaining to 6 inches is definitely possible with consistency and time. I would suggest implementing heat into your routine if you haven’t already. I use a heating pad when stretching while lying in bed and the IR lamp when jelqing.

Can’t speak from experience as I don’t hang but would think that any of the “normal” methods would work such as a rice sock, heating pad, warm wet washcloth. If you want to invest in an IR lamp, you could try that as well. Hopefully some of the experienced hangers can chime in. My advice would be to try/stick to the newbie routine for a few months before jumping into hanging or pumping.

Ir lamps work extremely well without going into super expensive territory. If you start hanging start at like 2lbs and go from there. Make sure you read up on the hanging 101 thread. There is a lot of good information in there.

I skipped jelqing and went straight to hanging with lite weights. I wrap a heating pad around my unit when hanging. There are a few pics of my mostly homemade setup in my log.

Thanks for your feedback! How was the process for you? Have you gained yet and how often do you hang?

You can use a forced air space heater or a well placed blow drier.
