Hand Cramping

Lately I have been getting bad hand cramps and at points I start to feel like I am starting to lose feeling and control of the grip during jelping? Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent cramping.

I found this thread and I just wanted to see if anyone had any tips.

Stretch it out, and do it again often, you’re making your hand stronger, and just like any muscle, it’s gonna ache.

I would say its just something you need to take a while to get used to.

I looked at that link, and that jelq grip doesnt seem very good to me. The pressure is at the top/bottom of the shaft, whereas for better expansion I would say you need to target the sides of the shaft. Of course, you could just use that grip and turn your hand at an angle….:D

I started out doing jelqs fairly rapidly. After I found this site I have slowed it down, but one of the things I noticed at first was that my hands got quite tired towards the end of the set. I just stuck with it and it went away after a week or so.

One positive benefit: I noticed that I can play barre chords much better now! I always had trouble with that damned F before, now no sweat!

Take a 30 second break every five minutes to shake your hands out and stretch them a bit. This provides enough relief for me.

Start (22/04/2013) - 6.5" BPEL x 5" MSEG

Now (12/06/2013) - 7" BPEL x 5.25" MSEG

Current Aim - 7.25" BPEL x 5.25" MSEG

What do you guys mean by stretching my hands?? Like streching them out like im trying to grab something real big? well I do that and also I do take breaks since at the halfway point I do a 5 minute hot cup so that gives it a break.

The thing is, I never would get these in the first month, but guess it’s something I will have to deal with, appreciate the replys.

Thanks for the link, has some pretty cool ideas for strecthing that I will try.

Another thing you might consider is this. The nerves that stimulate muscles get tired too. They need sodium and potassium to fire. You might eat a few bananas for energy, which are rich in potassium, as the nerves use it up upon firing. A banana to stretch your banana :rofl: !
