How important is a rest day, really?

How important is a rest day, really?

I’ve been doing PE off and on for a few years. I’m totally acclimated to it. I really kicked it into gear last year, but was still somewhat sporadic with it.

But ever since Jan 1st, I’ve been at it everyday without fail. My daily routine is not too rigourous…

3-5mins heat before
20-30 mins jelqs (base squeezed and kegel on each stroke)
3-5 mins heat after
Sometimes I’ll wear a sock clamp for a little while afterwards.

Also, I’ll try to get about 20-30 mins each night (or early morning) of BTC stretching while in bed.

I also take a daily low-dose Cialis (5mg) to keep a semi and help with BPH.

I’ve done this afaik everyday since Jan 1, with some slight noticeable gains (esp flaccid hang and girth), and no real pain or discomfort so far.

Looking at my modest routine, do I REALLY need to take a day off anytime, or can I just keep going day after day after day like this?

You are causing trauma and stress to your penis fella… it needs time to heal… it would be like a bodbuilder working his ches 7 days a week… over training is counter productive even in PE

Ultimately, whether or not it matters is determined by the results you get. Try every other day for a month and see if the results are better. I try to stick to every other day, except for light weight hanging that I do sporadically, because the results have been better.

I agree, because I lift myself, and know the importance of rest days for each muscle group.

But then again, I’ve always wondered about cyclists and speed skaters; (they tend to have huge quads) how are they able to work their quads so much everyday and get away with it?

Reviewing the routine outlined…..personally it seems very light to me, depending on how aggressive your jelqing and hand stretching is. If you’re making gains and you’re not having any issues with erection quality you could do it everyday. However after a while your penis will become accustomed to the work load and you will have to increase the intensity and time.

Guys that have graduated beyond a newbie routine that are hanging weight above 10 lbs. and are working in the hand stretches and pumping will need a day of rest once or twice a week. However it really depends on your erection quality. If that suffers it’s an indication that you are over training. Much of your ability to train everyday depends on several variables…. age, testosterone levels, and how much sleep / rest you get is critical in your ability to train daily.

Thanks. Although this is the most thorough PE routine I’ve ever done, it’s still not as extreme as some of the routines I’ve read about in here with hours-long stretching devices, all-day clamping, weight hanging, and pumping. I’ll try to keep at it everyday if I can, and monitor my EQ as I go. (My diet, T-levels, exercise, & sleep are all very good)

They are undergoing endurance training which is very different from lifting heavy.

While I don’t know specifics about which cyclists and skaters you’re referring to, everyone (even elite athletes) need rest days.

that is not as light as you think! I am trying a similar approach and monitor very closely my PI’s - and my body tells me it need his rest. I seldom have more than 3 days in a row.

And I do “just” 2.5minute sets of stretching, jelqing and pumping.

So be cateful because you start on a very intense level already.

Thanks guys. Taking a break today. No jelqs, Uli’s, stretches, or sock-clamping.

I ultimately decided that every Monday and Thursday are going to be my 2 rest days of the week. Hows that?

Adjusting intensity

I’ve said this many times…. PE training is very intuitive, no two guys will train exactly alike. Especially when you factor in the amount of months / years some men have been at it for. What is extremely deceptive is to read the routine of someone who’s been training for a few years and then a rookie newbie comes along and tries to duplicate the same routine, and then experiences multiple negative side effects and can’t understand why.

The ability to understand and recognize fatigue isn’t something that happens in a month or two. It’s a process and if you’re training correctly you will instinctively know when you need a day of rest to recover. If your training is flat and gains have stalled and your erection quality isn’t what it should be, that’s an indication you need a day of rest or a short break. PE training is something you should look forward to doing, it shouldn’t be a chore.

When I was training to reach my full potential I would mentally focus on each daily session with the thought of “how big” can I get today!
