I keep getting hard during exercises

I keep getting hard during exercises

As the title says, often it’s difficult to jelq since I keep getting hard during the exercise. This also happens during stretches sometimes.

I am currently on the beginner’s routine plus some light pumping. I don’t use porn generally, and if I do it’s just while pumping.

The only solution I’ve found so far is to stop the exercise, wait for the erection to fade a little bit (also reading boring stuff in the process, Wikipedia or news) and then start again. I hate it because it increase the overall duration of a session, but I don’t really know what to do.

Any ideas?

I hear ya bro. I remember when I was a beginner and younger that was a problem. Do you use a warmup like a rice sock, a warm wash cloth or something to heat up for 5 min? Usually, that’s enough time for me to decompress. Next, I use lube and i use my dominant hand mostly to do the jelq while the other hand works like a clamp on the base. The idea is to do it slow. I usually have a semi erect because you need blood to flow and push towards the glans. I don’t use porn or think about anything sexy, I know there’s stimulation from my own hand but I actually count in my head. And there’s pressure and squeeze so it’s more like a workout for me. When I get excited, i breathe, I do kegels, usually kegels is a quick way for me to lose my erection. I think now that Im in my 40s, I’ve learned to disconnect my erection but i recall when i was younger, the sight, the touch, the environment gets me easily excited, naked time I get hard. I know that doesn’t help much but Id say if you continue jelqing erect and do it a few sec slower, eventually on your 5th stroke you’d lose that erection a bit. You have to tell your mind that PE time is not play time, it’s workout time. I don’t know about you, but when im in a men’s locker room and im naked, im freaked out that i couldn’t get erect. You want to find a thought somewhere clinical that you can achieve an erection but not too hard that you have to stop jelqing. If you do find yourself too hard, it’s ok, just breathe and keep going slow.

Getting hard while performing exercises is normal. Stay focused during your routine and eventually you will learn to keep your erection level where you need it to be. Just give it time and keeping doing whatever you need to do to finish the workout.

I’m a newbie and it’s an issue for me too, although it’s slowly getting easier as I get used to it.

My theory is that most guys are so used to any touch in that area being attached to sexuality, so it can be difficult to perform an intensive, non-sexual routine like jelqing without becoming aroused. Think about it—before PE, and aside from pulling it out to pee, how often were any of us touching our dicks in a way that didn’t involve either masturbation or sex of some form? I’m in my 40s and aside from peeing and a brief phase in my early 30s when I did stretching, I can’t remember the last time pre-PE that I touched my dick for anything other than pleasure. So we have to retrain our dick-brain connection. I really think it just takes time and mental discipline. Most of the guys who’ve been doing PE longer don’t seem to report this issue as much as the newer guys.

And you don’t want to totally lose that, getting erect easier means less time getting the penis ready for a jelq. I just get it fully hard, then let it subside to roughly 75% hardness. Like others report, when it gets harder, just wait a bit. Resume PE. Rinse and repeat.

Also I read in the playboy advisor in pre-internet times (as a worried youngster with very frequent spontaneous erections), it is much better to have an erection when you don’t want one than not to have an erection when you do want one.

Here’s some advice - you’re still making progress.

When I first started the newbie routine, I was getting really hard erections and didn’t care much about controlling the erection level since its not something you can just dial down to easily - so I kept on going and well, I made good gains. Overtime you’re going to soften (your dick starts to understand and acclimate) and you’ll then start worrying whether something else wrong has happened. Trust me, keep going at the pace you are now with the routine; feel into every motion and kegel with each rep… Use heat and always take your time.

Two things I do for this:

Stop touching and do 50 kegels. Without physical stimulation the kegels usually let the erection subside a bit but not totally

Think about something that frustrates me like work or a person I had a problem with. Instant deflation.

During exercise I focus my thoughts on a neutral task like counting out my reps as 1-Mississippi 2-Mississippi etc. or watching the timer on my phone

PE is mental as much as physical


Remember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go.

Unfortunately kegels just make me harder! But thinking about the process and the activity itself is just as good

Just to add a couple of tips to future members, I’ve also read around here that some do squats to let the erection go down.

I’ll give it a shot in tomorrow’s session. I’ll keep you guys up to date.

Now that changed the definition of calisthenics.
I agree, blood flow shifts to quads and hamstrings. Can’t go ass to grass, dick slaps the floor, maybe half squats.
