Infrared Lamps in Canada?

Infrared Lamps in Canada?

I live in Canada and I want to pick one up as soon as possible. Are they carried in any stores here? Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware etc? Or is it purchased more so online.

What other uses does the lamps have?

I don’t have any answer for you, but I changed your thread title to something more descriptive so that maybe some Canadian readers will notice the thread :)

Thanks :)

Go to Canadian tire and look in the lighting section. I got my Sylvania 250 watt infrared there, along with an adjustable lamp. When you see the fluorescent bulbs your in the right place, and the packaging is quite clear on what bulb type they are. I bought the Sylvania cause the packaging said the bulb was best used for treating muscle aches and such. I then knew it was the proper type for warming up the unit.

P.S. Walmart and HH both have them to.

I'm consistent in spurts, but gains are undeniable!

You can pick up the bulbs pretty much everywhere (Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Building Box), but the problem you will run into is getting a suitable lamp.

I went to numerous locations and the best place I found to get one is a larger local pet shop. They come with a handy swivel clamp that adjusts so that you can get the lamp positioned just right.

The biggest problem was that I wanted to get a lamp that could handle a 150 watt WITH a safety cover. I tried numerous places but could not locate one so I picked one up without a safety cover.

I found out after I picked mine up, that if you ask in the pet shops they can special order you one in that has a cage and can handle up to 250 watts.

I used the IR lamp several times and found that the heating was superior to a heating pad in every way and decided on ordering the following from

Zoo Med Brooder Lamp 10” Reflector
LFC-15 Zoo Med clip-on Safety Cover for Clamp Lamp
ESES-150-120-W 150 Watt, 120 Volt, White (Ceramic Bulb)

I have read that the Long wavelength infrared emissions (3-10 microns) was best so I picked up the ceramic bulb as I could not locate a ceramic bulb here.

Also, I requested that it be shipped via US Postal Service to avoid the extortionist UPS and FedEx “handling fees” that can run up to 75% of the value of the product shipped.
