Ligament Fatigue

Ligament Fatigue

This may be relevant, or not. All the discussion of lig. Fatigue and connective tissue adaptation reminded me of something I experienced years ago. I was assistant instructor at a traditional Japanese Karate dojo.

When students first started training they tended to lack the ability to create the kind of power karate requires. As their training continued their power grew, along with their speed. After about a year of hard training they were getting to where they could throw good, hard techniques. And frequently, that would be when they would pull muscle, or strain a joint.

It seems that the ligs and tendons grow stronger at a much slower rate than muscle. I don’t know if this will correlate to PE training, but it might be something to consider.

I’m enjoying this forum, and appreciate the amount of generosity and knowledge available here. Thanks.

Yesterday, my knee popped out of joint. That hasn’t happened in a long time, but it used to be a frequent occurrence. The ligs are a little sore today. It made me think about PE — yeah, everything is about my penis — and why some might gain faster than others.

When I was doing karate, there were lucky guys like me who didn’t need to stretch much. My ligs were loose naturally, and I could drop down into splits w/o trouble. I had the opposite problem, where I could injure myself from being too loose.

Could this be another factor to consider, perhaps an adjunct to Bib’s LOT theory? Or just an encouragement to slow-gainers to stick with it? If they have tight joints and need to warm up and stretch before they work out it might mean they will make PE gains slower than others?

Just a thought for the PE experts.

Well, they might make lig gains more slowly, but I think lig gains are a very minor piece of the PE puzzle. Shaft growth is what it’s all about. That’s not so much about stretching connective tissue as it is about growing new meat (IMO).

I will second that, modesto.

"Debate the idea..."

Yo surfdog do some leg curls or something so that doesn’t happen I remember that happened to me once and I was on the floor in pain. Ah the thought still makes me cringe. Strengthen the muscles of the legs and you tighten the ligs. For example my mom tore her lig in her leg when she was a little girl and to this day she has no lig keeping the knee in place. Yet her leg is so strong that the muscles just keep everything in place.

Goal: To gain that evasive girth I so desperately need.

Hey DW, yeah, I was surprised it happened. I think it was just the weird position the leg was in, cause it’s something I focus on with my workouts. Maybe I need to take a closer look at my routine.

So, Mod, you’re not in favor of the lig-stretching theory. This is why I defer to the many experts here. Any thoughts on why some people grow tissue faster? I’m getting the results I want, fast enough that my wife is already asking me to stop, but I like to have some idea of why, wherever possible.

Thanks.

I think you might need both—growth and stretching. Stretching the ligs, by itself, doesn’t do much. Stretching the dorsal fibers of the tunica, however, which springs from the ligs, may do a great deal.

The depth of knowledge around here is truly humbling, not to mention the generosity. Whatever I’m doing is working, and I just hope I can keep doing it.
