Yeah, right. Like that‘ll happen.

Great. Now I have to go and look up all the back-issues of Men’s Health and Men’s Fitness I ‘ve read since 1998, not to mention any other random publications.

I’m just saying it’s what I remember, I can’t prove it in a court of law. I’m sure I’d crack under cross-examination.

“I don’t know your honor, it certainly looks like the multi I was taking.”

Something like that.

I like the link between oatmeal and swollen foreskin. I must encorporate that into my next hot wrap.

I think Men’s Health is small part fact, large part bollocks.

Don’t forget the 5 min Lie Detection. I hear there’s a new Lie detector out that doesn’t use an anal probe. Comfort is key.

:)

I attempted to do you a favor hap, and look up the Centrum info, but whenever you search for vitamin information all you get is liars who want to sell you something. I gave up.

Here’s what Consumer Reports had to say in the February 2006 issue:

Quote
Our November 2004 report on dangerous products found that dollar stores and other cut-rate outlets often sell defective goods. So we randomly bought and then analyzed 18 multivitamin brands from outlets such as The Dollar Store, Family Dollar, and Big Lots.

We tested for vitamin/mineral content and dissolvability, which indicates whether the pills break down fast enough to be absorbed. We also checked for the heavy-metal contaminants arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. An outside lab conducted the nutrient and contamination tests; we tested dissolvability in our labs.

Our tests were designed to evaluate the reliability of such brands in general. We did not assess enough lots of specific brands to rate them individually because consumers might find it difficult to locate particular dollar-store products. But the overall results of our tests were compelling.

None of the dollar-store products had harmful levels of the heavy metals we tested. But eight failed to meet the label claim for one or more nutrients, and three of those eight didn’t dissolve properly. Moreover, three of the substandard products said USP on the label, which by law is supposed to mean that the maker guarantees the product meets USP standards of quality and purity.

In contrast, major multivitamin brands proved so reliable the last time we tested them that we didn’t bother evaluating more than two such brands this time. Those products, Centrum from A to Zinc and Bayer One A Day Maximum, did indeed meet their label claims and were free of the tested contaminants.

Even if the cut-rate multivitamins were reliable, they offer savings of only about $3 to $21 a year over name-brand products; even less, if any, over major store brands. We recommend sticking to those better-known brands of multivitamins.

So a major store-brand multivitamin is probably your best deal.

Oats also contain zinc, which is essential to development of the male organs and pubescence. It also thickens your hair and semen. I wish I had taken zinc when I was 10 instead of fluoride.

On quick oats, the companies lie. To make them cook quicker they both remove the bran / fibre, and steam them. To get the max cholesterol reducing effect you want all the fibre, so it is best to use whole rolled oats. Put them in the saucepan at night with a couple of cups of water per serve, and in the morning they will cook just as quickly.

I think that there is some confusion here ( my what a surprise ) .

The notion that Oats , not oatmeal , enhances sexual performance , or at least increases libido is widespread .

The Latin name for Oats is Avena Sativa , if you search that , you will have a list as long as your arm of ” male performance enhancers ” that include Avena Sativa among their ingredients .

Promoters say Avena Sativa frees up bound testosterone to free testosterone in the blood, making it more active.

However, I have not come across any published studies that prove this point, nor have I come across any studies published in the medical literature regarding the effectiveness of Avena Sativa as a sex booster.

However, some anecdotal evidence from users indicates Avena Sativa to be a mild and gentle sexual enhancer, not as potent as Tribulus Terrestris, Tongkat Ali, Horny Goat Weed, and other sex herbs.

Avena sativa therefore may be a good herb to use in combination with stronger aphrodisiac herbs.

Oh , and in case anyone is wondering , the Oats you take as a supplement come in the form of a highly concentrated root extract .

Not the same , at all , as eating the dried , rolled grain .

Oatmeal is a good food in my opinion. Half a cup of oatmeal, a quarter cup of oat bran, some cream/milk/water, topped with butter or a good oil supplement, with some chocholate protein powder and a couple of tablespoons of sunbutter (sunflower seed butter)…well, that’s how I like mine anyway.

Oatmeal is a good source of L-arginine which is the immediate precursor of Nitric Oxide which I’m sure you all know is a smooth muscle relaxant so maybe oatmeal would help in some way.

When I looked up the difference, I found a few references saying that the only difference in instant oats is that it is cut or smashed up more to make it cook faster, (or partially cooked before rolling), but the whole oat is used. That makes sense to me.

I know some natural food proponents say that slow cook oatmeal is better, but I haven’t seen any reason to believe it.

It may be true that quick oats have a higher glycemic index, (maybe), but It should be equivalent in fiber and nutrients if it is the whole oat. Do you have a reference for your claim that quick oats are missing some bran or fiber?

I agree. Male Cosmo.

We all agree.

When Men’s Health started out it was half-way decent, but after the first few years it’s editorial policy shifted and it became a glossy info-tainment rag. I dropped it not long after the switch. It was just empty reading.

Men’s Fitness has much better science, though it too has it’s B.S. quotient.

Para’s consumer report analysis is valid in terms of it evaluating name brand multi content versus the bargain brands. But just because the tablet has the stated content when evaluated by chemical analysis doesn’t mean the body can absorb it well. Which is why the sports nutrition brands are often better. They’re very different than bargain brands. They’re not bollocks, they’re the dogs bollocks.

Anyway. What do I know? The differences in multi’s are pretty subtle, it’s not like you notice a huge change.

You want to see a real difference in your energy level meth-amphetamines are the way to go.

Although they have a few drawbacks.

Centrum and a well-balanced diet is probably fine.
