Both are normal behaviour.
Whether you stand or sit is personal; it’s personal to the degree that your bladder is angled in comparison to your penis. Standing or sitting changes the angle and thus the ease at which you urinate other physiological factors are how full your bladder is, how much you’ve eaten, bowel movement and your general build.
The urge and how/when it comes depend on several factors. If you kegel long enough (Or squeeze shut the pelvic floor) your brain receives a signal indicating that you can’t urinate at this point and the urge subsides. At the same time, relaxing your pelvic floor and putting light pressure on the bladder will indicate for your body to release.
By no means am I a professional, but having difficulty getting your flow going could stem from mental issues (Anxiety, etc) or physical aspects; leaning, sitting or bending when your bladder is full could shut off or put more pressure on the smooth muscle. Making it slightly harder to get the stream going. On the other hand, not enough urine in your bladder has the opposite result; not enough pressure to get the flow going.
