Hey, I’ve recently been developing a grayish-blueish discoloration on the glans. If you can imagine the glans as a dome, my discoloration is the circumference of the base of the dome, all around. I’ve only been doing the newbie routine for a month now. I was wondering if this was due to jelqing or stretching. I think just recently I realized I was doing the stretch wrong. It was always hard for me to get a good grip, and so what ends up/ended up happening is that the skin gets pulled too, and I’m squeezing too hard right at the base of my glans just to maintain the stretch. Meaning, I grip my penis perhaps 1-2 inches below the glans, but when I stretch, the skin goes with it and I end up sort of crushing the base of my glans. I don’t’ know how to get a better stretch. How do I stretch without squeezing my penis too hard? Then again, could my discoloration be due to the jelqing? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.

Don’t know about the reason for the discoloration, but if you kegel in a little blood in your CCs and use that as a “shoulder” to pull on - in effect, a stopper at the end of your dick so to speak, then you pull on that rather than on the glans itself.

Some fellas are well more prone to discolouration than the luckier others. The Beasty One residing in the former. Experientially, I’d say it’s neither jelqing nor stretching but lack of or negligent warm-up. Try to intensify warm-up, even make it habit to warm-up before every individual exercise.

It could be a side effect of grabbing the glans while stretching.

As far as I’ve been able to deduce, discoloration is caused by driving blood at high pressure out of the skin’s capillaries and into the surrounding space. Hemoglobin, or some related iron material, is left behind and leaves a rusty colored stain.

The way to avoid discoloration is to find a way to grip the skin gently and distribute the stress evenly to avoid any points of extreme pressure wherein the above phenomenon can occur.

The way to cure discoloration is by—

1) Seeing whether it resolves itself on its own over time.

2) Applying one or more chemical peels, as described in Hobby’s Shedding the Snake thread.

3) Waiting to see whether somebody comes up with a better idea.

I’m in the midst of my second chemical peel now. I had very bad discoloration. The scab from the second peel is just about to come off (any minute now). I’m very eager to see how much progress I made. You can track my progress here. Beware: Some folks find the pictures to be kind of gross.

I fear I’m developing a similar discoloration however mine’s at the circ scar. You guys know how on the side closer to you of the circ scar your penis is generally more of a brownish color and on the far side of your circ scar (towards the head) it’s pinker? Well the circ scar line now seems to be a bit more wavy maybe? It seems there’s little circle blobs of the brown that used to be on 1 side of my circ scar is sorta invading into the pink area. If that makes sense give me a :) .

My reason for this I think is stretching and causing too many bruises and red dots; popping blood vessels :( . I am working everyday on a steady stretch method that prevents this from happening.

I’m almost positive it’s from my bad stretching.

Any ideas?

I’ve never had any discoloration around the corona. I’ve had varying degrees of darkening surrounding the piss slit from stretching. Unlike shaft skin discoloration, this area has cleared on its own given enough time.

Johnno, my circ scar has always darkened easily. I remember it became darker after some frequent and intense masturbation sessions in my mid teens. I felt self-conscious about it in the showers at school. After burning off all my discoloration, including the circ scar, the first part that redarkened after doing more PE is the circ scar. Interestingly, the portion of it I burned the deepest hasn’t darkened much. Maybe a deep enough burn gets rid of the “scar.” I don’t know.

Hey, so is there a substitution for stretching in the Newbie Routine? I’ve tried and tried, but I can’t’ get the stretch going without ending up squeezing the area around my corona. Are there any other basic stretches that I could do or not really?

So just to clarify; is a general darkening of the shaft normal or something to be worried about?

It is not uncommon - some people are more susceptible than others, but it is a sideeffect that is both common and often unwanted. In general, the rougher the handling (= higher pressure / tighter grip / harder clamp) the more likely you are to get darkening, in general or in blotches.

So, is there really anything else I can do instead of a stretch so I can maybe avoid discoloration or injury? Because I just feel that the stretches are hurting me more than they should.

I don’t think injury is a likely outcome from stretches - you have to be pretty careless to injure yourself that way. Discoloration is not that common a complaint from stretching either, it seems most people attribute discoloration to ulis, clamping, jelquing etc. Have you been warming up well, as in real hot?
