The surveys I see most quoted are “most commonly purchased size” or similar teminology, and those results tend to return smaller size.
I think the lesson learned here is that when the guy gets his gal to agree to purchase a dildo, he immediately searches for the 8x6, only to be overruled when the gal comes in to make the actual buying decision. Such is life.
