Smoking and PE

Although Varenicline (Chantix) functions as a partial agonist of nicotine receptors (PNRA) it does not have the vasoconstrictive properties that nicotine has. A side effect of such a drug is lowering of libido and accompanying ED. This has to do with the effects a PNRA has on the brain’s physiology. It does not effect the vascular tissue. These side effects occur in 1/1000 men using Varenicline. ED in smokers is much more commonly seen.

It is therefor not expected that use of this drug will effect your regimen. To conclude, discontinuing smoking tobacco while using Chantix will be a definite step forward. I wish you strength and dedication in your process of cutting your habit.

Initial stats; BPEL 8.5 inch, EL 8.3 Inch, EG 6.4 inch. Goal; EL +1 inch, EG: Not a priority. Equal girth along the shaft.

Progress: 5 weeks: BPEL: 8.8 inch. (+7mm) EL: 8.6 inch (+7mm). SL: 8.9 EG: 6.7 averaged out (+4-8mm. Growth though failing to create equal girth along shaft)

Heya Girthhopefull

Your quote “My question is: if you need help to quit, I.e. You are one of the unlucky people that cannot quit cold-turkey, and decide to use something like Chantix.” does more or less apply to my own situation.
I certainly will use a strong helping hand to quit for good.

But: I have just read the MD info about Varenicline (I.e. Champix) and in my humble opinion the undesired side-effects are quite heavy (citation from Swiss MD pharma database: 12.4% abnormal dreams, 13.8% insomnia, 10.1% headaches, 28.6% nausea, 1-10% feeling sleepy just to quote the worst side-effects).

About Champix and libido: yes, it may reduce your libido in a 1% to 1 o/oo probability. But in the same probability, it may rise your libido according to the Swiss MD pharma database. So the side-effect can go in both directions. And yes, it is true that the probability of having erection problems from smoking is ways bigger.

I think there must be other ways before using such a chemical mace. A friend of mine is a hypnosis therapist ad she says it is a possible way. I did not try it, but I rather will try hypnosis before adding chemical substances to my body that may do (other) harm too. And besides: the more I am walking and hiking, the less I feel the need for a cigarette.

Maybe it is possible to just “walk it off”. I’m trying that way for sure!

Oh yeah, I have to say that I am neither an MD nor a pharmacist, it’s only my IT background so I just know how to find the information (and interpret it a little bit because I once worked for the company that published this kind of information).

Wishing you good gains and great EQ

Thank you Richard for your support and helpful information. Much like you, I do not like taking chemical based products, particularly those that mess with whatever little brain I may have. Unfortunately Chantix is one such product.

My personal problem is that I go for a smoke right after a rigorous workout at the gym (light up as soon as I get into my car), so as you can see, walking it off is not an option for me.

I have always been interested to learn more about hypnosis, maybe that is the path I will try to follow.

At the end of the day, I am hoping my desire to have a nice looking and functional package will be the psychological push I need to quit smoking .. And I certainly want that.

Tried taking something else? A ginger ale for example? It could be a dopaminic reaction, so anything that raise dopamine could be good as substitute of smoking.
