Weird Pumping Question?

Weird Pumping Question?

I bought a pump where the needle points at 5hg when the pump is empty. It’s really difficult for me to tell if it ever corrects this when pumping up. Like…when it does start applying vacuum, and the needle is at 10hg, is it really at 10hg or is it actually at 5hg since it started there?

So I was curious if a few members that are experienced with pumping could answer a very unscientific question for me.

When pumping, how does 5-8hg feel to you, when inside the pump? Can you not even tell that anything is going on? Is the sensation so light that if you put a blanket over the pump and couldn’t see it, you wouldn’t really know if you’d lost seal and nothing was happening? This is how it feels to me when I get the needle to 10hg. I usually take it up to 12hg or so and around there I can actually feel some pressure going on but below that point, I can’t feel anything much. It is definitely doing SOMETHING before there, but not enough to cause any sensation.

Any personal thoughts appreciated, thanks.

For me as someone pumping for four years I definitely feel it at 5hg, it’s a comfortable, pleasurable feeling. But I feel the pressure. And at 8hg it starts to get less comfortable and less pleasurable.

Dude you need to replace that gauge with one that works. Pumping without a gauge (or a properly working one) will drastically increase your chances for injury to your penis.

And I concur with Kingscounty. I just started pumping again last week after stopping many years ago and 5hg is when you really start to feel it. For someone that had never pumped before, 5hg will result in quite a bit of ache until the penis starts to adapt. 8hg has a noticeably stronger pull and should only be used once your penis is fully conditioned to 5hg.

Yes he needs a new gauge for sure. They’re easy to buy and replace. I would suggest one with the protective rubber around it. I tend to drop mine so I’ve replaced many over the years. I actually prefer to buy a new setup every year.

Thanks, I think that answers my question. I pumped with a bathmate for like a year so I’m somewhat use to pumping already but that BM doesn’t have a gauge so I never really knew what Hg I was at before. Then this pump…I guess I just figured it was normal for it to operate like that since I’d never had an air pump before but recently thought…maybe that’s not normal. I will probably replace it eventually, but I’ve actually been pumping with this broken gauge’d pump for like..I dunno..on and off for a year? So I generally know where is safe and when I’m pushing too far.

I will replace it soon though. Maybe get one where the gauge is external to the unit (this one is contained and part of the pump itself. Not sure how I’d replace it). Also the tube itself is way too large so I’ve been thinking about getting a smaller tube anyway as I think it’d be much more effective of a workout of the tube were smaller.

Thanks for the replies!

Get a leluv off eBay with the tube size you need. There’s a thread on picking the right size tube in the pumping section.

The pressure reading is linear, so if 5"hg is your new zero, then 10"hg would be 5 and so on. But it would be best to get a more professional set up where the gauge is on the pump and the cylinder fits your size.

The guy selling LeLuv used to sell them on ebay, but now I think he has switched to Amazon:

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Go to know gprent. I had no idea he moved.

Gauges often have a little screw inside them to adjust the zero. You’d have to unscrew it and look up the center of the hole for a little slotted screw thing.

If yours doesn’t, a replacement gauge is only gonna run you about $10. Just make sure you get the right thread size.
