What is the right way to do the exercise? Can I move to another level?

I started about 2 weeks ago and wanted to know if I can make the jelq without squeezing the base, is this part really important? I would also like to know if, as I already did 2 and a half weeks of jelq for approximately 40 minutes with warm-up and 10-minute stretching without any problem, can I move to another level or do I continue like this? If I can move on to another stage, what is this one?
