When to use lube when having sex

I’ve only had sex a handful of times but each time, I used lubricated condoms. When do I need extra lubricant (KY jelly, Astroglide, etc.)?

My wife advises that communicaton comes in handy at this point. ESPECIALLY with condoms, the lack of lubrication is going to bother her much more than it does you, so you need to be open to her feedback. Don’t hesitate to ask, and if it ends up being her suggestion, make sure that you don’t seem offended. Being able to freely communicate your needs back and forth is a very, very sexy thing.

Also keep in mind, that even with proper foreplay, which lends itself to the production of her natural lubrication, just the introduction of latex (as in a condom) can lead to drying of the vagina for some women. So even if she seems wet going in, it can seemingly dissapear after a bit of pumping.

(FYI: I was basically playing the part of the stenographer here… my wife talked and I typed, so this is from a female perspective, not mine. I was about to advise her to join herself to add another female perspective to this forum, but alas the membership is now closed.)

Last time, I noticed the condom was kind of dry and “crinkly.” I was worried this would leak to breakage.. But didn’t think that it would hurt her. Now I know. Thanks!

A good rule of thumb is that when you notice smoke………

I always put a daub on the dick before I start with the foreplay then I know that if necessary when penetration occurrs she will be ready in case I rush things

How about just pay attention and use it if it feels like you need it. And communicate. That’s a lot of the fun of sex…talking about what you like and what she likes and wants. You may want to consider some of the flavored lubricants like joy jelly. Fun to use even if you don’t “need “it.

Just another side note. Seeing as to how you are using condoms during intercourse be sure to get one that is latex safe.
