Becoming a healthier person

Hello All…

I am a long time lurker on this site and am making my first post! Hopefully this is in the correct forum and all is well with me posting. I am not a newb to PE, just posting, so I can’t post anywhere else as far as I know.

Basically I am making a big change in my life and need some support. I can’t get over how supportive members on this forum are and that’s why I finally decided to post. I think people here may understand what I am going through and may be able to help greatly.

So a quick background on my PE history.

I jelqed for about one year off and on, every two days or so. After that I moved on to power jelqing. I switched back and forth for the next two years with an occasional clamp(rarely) for girth. All in all I would say that over 3 years I kept it pretty reserved for the most part. Slow and steady.

Well as of a few months ago I finally decided to stop doing PE for any gains and occasionally lightly jelq for general exercise. I had reached my goal at 8x5.5 from 7 1/4x5 and feel that I am completely happy with this size. When I am completely rock hard I can go upwards of 8x6 on occasion.

This brings me to my “issues”.

I am just not getting a full erection anymore and I don’t want these gains to go to waste! Maybe 80% EQ most of the time and I noticed that I am relying mostly on my BC muscle to keep an erection going.

Jump to my overall health history,

35 years old – 5’10”-185lbs

I have been a smoker for the past 12 years and have a horrible diet. Fillet o’ fish is what I was considering “eating well”. I drank tons of coffee and also used percocet as a rec. Drug as well as others. I am not fat but completely unhealthy and no exercise.

SO after a sexual experience with a woman had gone nearly all wrong(which initiated psychological problems) I woke up and realized that I am getting older and need to take care of my body.

I have quit smoking, drugs, and am trying to eat properly and exercise(one week into it). I am also starting to take supplements to get my blood flowing properly again. Supplements include Arginine, ginko, ginseng and niacin, also a multi vitamin. All taken as prescribed on the bottle, no crazy doses.

I have not seen a doctor yet mostly due to no insurance. I am pretty sure that any respectable doctor would tell me to quit smoking/drugs, eating poorly, and exercise before recommending anything else anyway.

OK so I am looking for some good simple diet tips(maybe some recipes) and an exercise routine that I can do before and after work, mostly cardio since I am not into weight lifting at all. I am also looking for support for quitting all my addictions and some reassurance that this may be or IS the cause of all my erection problems.

I have a great respect for some of the people on this forum with all the help they have dished out. This is NOT an easy topic to talk about for me, at least not with anyone I know personally. I just needed somewhere to go to vent and discuss my problems.

Thanks for your time!

First off, I’d like to welcome you to the posting side of the forum, and would kindly ask you to space a few paragraphs because your post is barely legible.

A simple Google on the subjects you need literature on will provide you with every thing you need to read on the subjects.

I suffered, and still do, from ED mostly caused by smoking, intoxication, and poor diet. After dropping the drugs, going back to physical exercises, eating less fatty foods, and taking Ginkgo, I have sustained a pretty good EQ level for the past year.

For me, fat and foods containing lots of it, was a great cause to my ED. Furious and hard masturbation as well.

One more post coming up for the technical stuff you asked for. If you need anyone to talk to, I am more then happy to listen.

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

One of my threads. The info in it is about burning fat but contains a lot of information you should look into about dieting and how you should keep your carb to protein to fat ratio.

Burning fat

Ginkgo is a very effective for ED. It takes 14 days to reach full effect, but afterwards is great. Also exercising is very important for your testosterone, which is very good for your erections. If you don’t want to lift any weights, then jog for 20 minutes before, and then 20 minutes after work. 40 to 45 minutes is the optimal amount of time for cardio.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply and the info. I have never posted on a forum that was so responsive.

It’s funny, once I started reading about the probability of smoking causing ED I was actually excited to quit. Sure it’s tuff, but I have tons of motivation to quit at this point.

Thanks again.

Hi yes welcome to the site. Appreciate your candid assessment of your life. I need to read yours slowly and get back to you. Your 8 x 6 unit is the goal that many would like to achieve - congrats. My theory is that a healthy cock and body go together - if we focus on sorting out the whole person:body total, mind and whatever else you associate with being truly human then things will fall into shape. Great that you are focussing on getting that old blood flow going - a healthy heart and blood flow is obviously the tops as regards penis health and good erections - and every other body function. It seems to me you are getting onto the right lines. Hope you sort out any psychological problems - believing in yourself and gradually building up confidence through talking things out with someone - medication if necessary but don’t dismiss a real heart to heart with some soul (for want of a better word!) friend. Hope you can take it as read that you have friends and help mates here. I will get back to you soon - need time to think!!

Go well - dont forget that that unit of yours is something to be thankful for. Sooner or later it will be pulsing with life-giving blood - remember the mind-body link is crucial!1 Sorry if this is beginning to sound like some therapy nut!

Man you have done a great thing just by quitting the smoking thing. Your still young and have many possible good years ahead. They will only get better.

Do everything that Thatcat recommends.

Oh once you reach 100% erections that pecker will probably pop up to a 9” and greater than 6” girth. About 20% of your pecker is lost in the ED.
Walk 1/2 per day briskly 3-5 days per week. Some weight training will be good as well, 2-3 days per week. It is not hard to adopt a good diet. There are lots of easy healthy snacks and meals to fix and prepare for yourself that are easy to put together.

You are on a good track, and at a good age to set yourself up for a much healthier life from now on.

Quitting smoking: great move. You should soon see some erection improvement from that alone.

About the only negative I can see to an exercise program is that once started, you have to keep doing it with some regularity in order to keep the benefits. :) If you slack off and go back to a slug lifestyle, you’ll soon return to having a slug body.

Easy tip: Eat at least 5 portions of fruits and veggies a day. This is not difficult to do, assuming you believe as I do that ketchup is not a vegetable nor are Pop Tarts a fruit serving.

I understand your reluctance to see a doctor, not having health insurance. HOWEVER, ss, consider going to a good internist for a general checkup and blood work and paying out of pocket for the visit and the tests. You’ll want to make sure you don’t have diabetes or hypertension, for just two common examples, and if you do have them that they get treated. Both can be symptom-less and both affect erection quality negatively.

We’re proud of you for deciding to make this turn around. You will get a lot of support here along the way to getting healthy. Your late thirties, your forties, fifties (etc.) are going to be a lot more fun.

Yeah a good comeplete physical may set you back 150$ but it is worth it.

Question:
Do you masturbate often? How much sex do you have? Do you strain your penis a lot and not give it enough rest?

Restrain from sex and masturbation for a week or two. That will undoubtedly give you better erection.

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

Yeah I know the doctor visit will be worth it. I need to be checked out thoroughly! Thanks for bringing this up and pushing me to do it. I hate doctors visits and tend to avoid them.

Thatcat,
I had been masturbating 2 times a day. With my new lifestyle change I kind of set up a goal if you will. I will only let myself have an orgasm IF I can get to full erection without relying on my BC muscle. If it seems that my dick isn’t into it, I stop and go do something else. So at this point it’s about once every other day.

I’m sure I should give it a longer rest for now. I think part of the problem was too much porn as well. I got so used to this schedule of things. Wake up, wack it, go to work, come home, look at internet porn for a while, go out for a bit, come home, look at porn, wack it, go to bed. Very redundant. I think the porn desensitizes me to real life situations as well. This may be causing the problems with the ladies. Too egar to impress.

As far as sex, it is off and on. I have a house and I’m single with no real want of a relationship at this time. So I go after booty calls. They usually last a six months to a year and the sex is usually once a week. So six months on, six months off, generally along those lines.

I will take your advise TC. It is much appreciated. Same to all of you who have posted. You have made me feel better already!

Pushups and situps are a great place to start. Do three sets of twenty pushups and three sets of thirty situps every morning and evening; you will be amazed by what this simple routine can do for your health and energy level.

As for diet you need to find healthy food that you like. I am not one of them, but a lot of people like or dislike certain foods, vegetables, whatever. I eat anything because for me food is nothing more than energy to keep the machine running.

But, I can give you some general advice:
1) eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning. It has vitamins, carbs, and fiber. If you don’t like oatmeal, have two eggs and toast. Eggs have 100% of the amino acids that your body needs for synthesis. Breakfast is important.
2) do not drink carbonated beverages. Stick to water and juice, preferably all natural juice. A cup of coffee or a beer isnt bad for you, in fact, it’s very good for you (coffee for antioxidants, and beer for digestion), but you need to remember that the second cup of coffee or the second beer undoes all of the positive effects of the first. Soda is the absolute worst thing you can put in your body.
3) never eat fast food. Ever. Your better off going hungry.
4) the ratio for lunch and dinner should be this; 20% protein, 30 % vegetables, 50 % carbs. Your body will love you.
5) learn to cook. Potatoes are cheap and easy to cook, and very good for you. So are eggs (in moderation). Eat pasta and chicken, if you don’t like red sauce on your pasta try pesto, or vodka sauce, or tomato bisque. Eating in is cheaper and way more healthy.
6) read the food labels! If somethings has 150 % of your daily sodium, that is bad, don’t eat it.

It’s not easy being more healthy; the world is set up such that convenience comes before health. I hope that I have helped a little bit.

I am a complete Moron when it comes to eating right. I really appreciate you spelling it out for me with a list WhiskeyFish. I don’t know what it is, but vitamins and carbs and protein, it’s like math to me! It just makes my head hurt!

As far as soda, I stopped drinking everything except milk, water and coffee since I had a horribly painful bout with the kidney stones. Now I am staying off the coffee as well. I do need to get more juice in my life.

I am currently doing push ups and sit ups in the morning and will start pushing myself more on this. I also have a stair stepper machine that has been used as a shirt rack in the laundry room for the past 4 years. I will get that going again as well!

Thanks!
