Blakoe ring blues

OK,

I have recently decided I’m going to make me one of them there blakoe rings.

However, I have been unable to find the ingredients in the UK. Specifically the zinc rod. I would be able to get all the stuff from McMaster for around $14… But the postage will be about $100 dollars because of the volume everything has to be bought in (eg 5 feet of copper tube).

Has anyone got any leftover ingredients for a ring they can send me? (I would pay for the postage and the stuff)…

Alternatively - has anyone managed to source a zinc corrosion-inhibitor rod in the uk?

Has anyone bought everything from Mcmaster before from europe? I put in an order for:

1: Alloy 101 Oxygen-Free Copper Solid Rod 3/8” Diameter, 1’ Length
1: Zinc Corrosion Inhibitor Plug 3/8” Npt, 6” Rod Length, 1/2” Rod Dia
1: Latex Rubber Tubing 1/4” Id, 3/8” Od, 1/16” Wall, Amber

The problem is, there was no mention off what the shipping would cost. Assuming the package wouldnt be too big since the rods isnt too long and the latex tubing can be spooled. Hopefully it wont be too costly.

Btw, Alloy 101 means its 99.99% pure copper.

Need answer fast, since I just put in the order(chose best shipping method, since it was only one mentioning freight), but if it comes to 100 dollars shipping I wouldnt want it…

I cant see any mention of shipping prices on that page, not to europe anyway. And the 3/8” zinc Corrosion-Inhibitor Rod is very small, so no wonder its cheap to post in the US.

I didn’t mean that you could get info on shipping there. There is further information on different types of metals though.

McMaster should be able to tell you what the shipping cost will be.
