One end of the string stays tied to the clamp and the other has a loop big enough to hook onto the other side of the clamp, after looping through whatever you’re using for weight.

There are a couple kinds of glue guns here in Canada, Hot and Cool versions, both are easy to find and cheap (here anyway). I don’t know about the “cool” version but the idea is basically a substance that is very rigid at room temperature, but when heated will bond to the surface it cools onto, then again becoming rigid as it cools. the glue comes in “sticks” that feed into back of the gun.

I have a Hot Glue system which needs to heat the glue up quite a bit and hurts a lot to the touch (try not to touch) but cools in about 10 seconds. The tip of the gun stays hot so it can be used to mold the glue in place. even after it cools you can reheat it an smooth it out. holding it over an external heat source would probably work too to smooth out the surface (just not too hot to melt the clamp!)

Hope that helps!

Interesting, a quick release hanger that can be used for both hanging and clamping without wrap. I’m a big fan of easy on easy off, the one thing I don’t like about the Bib.

Keep us posted on how this works for you.

I will once again admit my inexperience in clamping.

I took the purpose of the thread as trying to find the right size clamp for clamping. I know there are many sized men and really only one practical sized cable clamp out there (the medium).

My post was offering a way to possibly reduce the amount of wrapping needed to attain the perfect fit, by reducing the internal size of whatever clamp you end up with. Anything beyond that was me thinking out loud (changing the shape).

Hi cantlook, there was no criticism intended of you in my statement. I was just showing *my* thought process at the time of interpreting the minimal text you’d originally posted. Just goes to show that the written word is not always taken as it was intended by the writer!

Thanks for the photo-shop you did. I do appreciate your effort you took to show what you had originally built.

Regarding the hot glue, I’ve never seen the cool type hot glue in my parts of the world, but I’m glad you mentioned it. A pity the hot type is too hot to touch and sets so quick. I had hoped for much slower setting to allow more time to mold more intricate shapes. I am thinking tools such as a hot air blower and hot knife might provide a little more versatility with use of the hot glue sticks for shaping purposes.

You’re a pretty smart guy with your inventiveness! I look forward to your future posts to see what other tidbits and ideas I can steal for my own projects…

Best wishes, stay safe, and thanks for your reply!

No, "mch" does not stand for "my cock's huger!"

... although it may do in the foreseeable future! :D

Taking things in the right context can be difficult on a forum like this. It’s something I certainly need to work at, and will be easier once I get to know people better.

I started a thread in the hanging forum in case the idea can inspire anything further.

Simple Homemade Clamping Hanger

I also did a 3d render to make things a little clearer. That way people can pick it apart in much more detail!

Thanks mch!
