Dieting and PE ?

I used intermittent fasting for 3 years, 7 days a week, fasting for 20 hours a day and eating for 4. I was heavy weight training during the same period doing 3 full body workouts a week, with no ill effects. So your Johnson won’t have any problem getting the proper nutrients. Unless of course it has its own weather system…

I have been intermittent fasting for over 1 and a half years. It is great. The only people that have a problem with it are those who have never researched the benefits and scientific studies on it.

I tried intermittent fasting for 6 weeks about a year ago. It wasn’t a success for me. I lost a lot of self control and couldn’t focus for my usual period of time (I have not regained my focus). I lost weight while I was on a very healthy weight, probably because I was unable to cram my daily food intake in four hours. I just felt like I had no appetite after 20 hours of not eating. I tried cooking nutitritious, healthy foods, I tried increasing caloric intake with junk food, but I couldn’t quite get the calories in. I also had these massive crashes during/after the four eating hours, where I’d just fall asleep or was generally unable to get anything done. Eating between 5 and 9 meant that as a result of IF I had zero free time left. Anxiety issues got worse.

Intermittent fasting was not for me, maybe because I have a strong dislike to food and eating in the first place.

On the original question however, dieting requires more of looking at what and how much one is eating rather than cutting on quantity. I’d highly recommend regularly inspecting your eating habits critically and see if you can improve this fundamental part of survival. Growing tissues require a healthy environment after all.

The general rule is not fast for 20 hours that is personal preference. The default fasting hours is 16. That gives you 8 hours to eat your food. No wonder why it didn’t work for you because you dived in head first without the proper information. Guys that fast longer than 16 hours do it out of preference. There are no extra benefits for fasting longer than 16 hours.

16 hours is just a lazy day for me. Breakfast at 10, dinner at 6. Nothing interesting changes in my case between a 12 hour or a 16 hour fast. I’ve tried that before and nothing happened, then I was told that it isn’t even IF unless there’s 20 hours in between. Basic research (didn’t go into any scientific publications for this one) agreed with the 20 hour case. I do admit that I did the 16 hour thing only on weekends for a few weeks so the sample size is small but well, 16 hour IF did nothing, 20 hours was pretty bad. I think there’s a larger benefit from being a regular eater and switching to a conscious diet than there is from having a healthy diet and switching to IF.
