I tried intermittent fasting for 6 weeks about a year ago. It wasn’t a success for me. I lost a lot of self control and couldn’t focus for my usual period of time (I have not regained my focus). I lost weight while I was on a very healthy weight, probably because I was unable to cram my daily food intake in four hours. I just felt like I had no appetite after 20 hours of not eating. I tried cooking nutitritious, healthy foods, I tried increasing caloric intake with junk food, but I couldn’t quite get the calories in. I also had these massive crashes during/after the four eating hours, where I’d just fall asleep or was generally unable to get anything done. Eating between 5 and 9 meant that as a result of IF I had zero free time left. Anxiety issues got worse.
Intermittent fasting was not for me, maybe because I have a strong dislike to food and eating in the first place.
On the original question however, dieting requires more of looking at what and how much one is eating rather than cutting on quantity. I’d highly recommend regularly inspecting your eating habits critically and see if you can improve this fundamental part of survival. Growing tissues require a healthy environment after all.
