Dieting and PE ?

This doesn’t seem like a good combo, not if you‘re trying to gain.

What do you guys think ?

I dont think dieting will have any negative effects on the gaining at all, however it will probably have negative effects if you starve yourself. The body is constantly repairing cells in the body, and replacing dead cells with new ones, this is the same type of process that allows the penis to grow. I dont think that this process is affected unless you starve yourself.

Seems like a great combo to me, just don’t starve yourself, as was mentioned.

Yes, I agree with shugoo ang logg.. and I think the health part is as least important as the exercise part

Heat is the key!

What you need to do is just change the way you eat completely, and start eating healthy. Dieting consists of let’s say cutting back on carbs or fats for example or not eating them entirely. But what people fail to realize its that you can only do so temporarily, and that’s why diets fail. You’ll end up gaining more weight once you get out of it. Stack up on tupperwear, start prepping your own meals about 2 days out of the week for the week, and try not to eat anything not made by you with an exception of a couple cheat meals.

I’ve made the same gains dieting for long periods that I have stuffing my face. It’s just you need to make sure you’re not starving yourself to point where you have a hard time healing, which would be living off of 300-500 cal a day and a loss of vitamins that are never replaced….. Basically anorexia an eating only one food for months and months. It’s nearly impossible to starve yourself unless you’re really trying or taking something to kill your appetite.

However, over the past year I found partial or intermittent fasting, going 12-16hrs without food actually gave me better EQ during the fast and helped cut down healing time. It’s been scientifically proven to increase HGH and Testosterone as well as libido, but you just don’t want to go too long with the fast because you will get depressed and moody. You will also have to watch caffeine and any stimulants because they’ll hit you harder, and eat the same maintenance caloric level across 8-12 hrs or 4-6hrs instead of 3-6 meals a day. If you do take caffeine or any stimulants like diet pills or ephedrine step it up slowly or else your EQ will suffer.

I have made some gains while on a diet, about 500-700kcal minus every day. Only small gains but I didn’t see any difference against PE while on kcal plus.

I would say do intermittent fasting like above but again it isn’t for everyone. You have to be really consistent to get results and stick to it.

the healthy diet is the way to go. I don’t want to loose any muscle !!

Do you know anything about dieters edema? You’ll want to look it up for when you stall and seem to be getting heavier when you’re doing everything right.

I never use the phrase “healthy diet”. It’s a lifestyle or just a way of eating. Answer to your OP, I think eating healthy, exercise and being moderate in bad habits is essential for PE. Would a diet be bad for PE? I guess it depends on the diet.

Typically have dinner by 6PM and breakfast next day at 7AM, rarely deviating. Been doing that for 30 years and never thought of it as “fasting” just my lifestyle.

Nope I’ve never had the stall. Being runner since a teenager showed me the relationship between healthy eating+portion size+aerobic exercise=weight loss or gain. If I was running 80-100 miles in a week then couldn’t be eating the same as if doing 20-40 miles a week. So when gaining 5-7 pounds from a weeks vacation at an all you can eat/drink resort, I just get back to my normal eating habits and portions then up my aerobic workout and lose it in a couple of weeks.

NO dieters edema has nothing to do with metabolism, and it’s not caused by over eating. Quite simply it’s water retention in fat cells after long term caloric restriction, usually after several months. It’s natural response to starvation/dieting over time. This is when you start to look puffy and bloated and slowly put on weight even though you’re doing everything right. The only way to get rid of it is to cheat on your diet every once in a while to lose that water. Research says that metabolism stays the same even on long term diets, provided you’re not wasting muscle and moving less.

@TGD, I, my wife and our girlfriend have all been on a ketogenic diet for over a year including calorific deficits of around 500 KCal per day in the case of my wife and gf.. The symptoms you describe above have not occurred.. Can you supply references?

I practice IF now for about 2 years on about 4 of 7 days.

The reason why this is particularly interesting for PE - apart from general health impact - is that it is scientifically proven and established that fasting boosts the immune system and improves healing of inflammations.

As you all now the idea about PE is to induce small injuries in the tissue - analog to muscles growth by weight lifting.
