When I came to realize that some women know of measuring from the pubic bone, the conversation went like this:
Myself, my house-mate, and a mutual female friend that we’ve known since high school were talking about all things sexual. This was shortly after I came out, within my own group of friends, as being bisexual (a very annoying experience overall). So my house-mate and I are getting into this conversation about sexual positions and came around to talking about reverse cowgirl and how it’s nice when a girl has a nice curvy ass and that through down the middle of her back (god damn that’s sexy). During this, my female friend pipes in that reverse cowgirl is great, but not if the guy has a short cock because it slips out too often and you can’t get a rhythm going that will get her off.
Naturally this comment resulted in a conversational diversion to penis size. Eventually it came around to her asking each of us how big we are. Being fairly sexually open among my friends (I’ve recommended this site to a few), I started to explain to her that the length I report to her all depends on what method of measuring I use. Before I get into measuring methods.. like never measuring along the bottom and then into NBP/BP, she cuts me off and says something like, “You measure from the pubic bone, right?” I remember thinking, “wow… this girl knows how to measure a cock.”
I didn’t think to ask her where she came across this measuring methodology because I was somewhat focused on her response to the size of my cock, but I will the next time I see her. I’m actually fairly interested now because of this thread.
Personally, I think the BP measurement is the best measurement to use assuming you have a reasonably average body fat %. It allows a point of reference from which to measure and reduces error in measurement. I can’t see the downside to using the BP measurement comparatively (if you actually care to compare) assuming it’s universally accepted.

You’re right, a woman that knows the BP length of her partner isn’t going to tell her girls that he is X inches BP. She will likely say that he is simply X inches. According to many Thunder’s users, there are girls that measure along the underside of a guy’s cock or along the side. I somehow doubt they say, “He’s X inches along the bottom.”

That’s the one. Wikipedia messed up though. It’s not the chief that announces the contest.. in fact, he doesn’t even involve himself in it. It’s Lieutenant Shea that spearheads the whole thing.

I believe that, at least with the vast majority of women, what they see is what they think of as a guy’s size being.Though I’ve heard about women measuring with a ruler or tape measure, it’s apparent only a small percentage have. I’ve more often heard of some women using her hands as a gauge (by knowing the measurement of her hand). Then it’s more discreet. I don’t think most women fool with knowing their own palm width though. The ones that do, I doubt they are trying to push their sideways hand down to the pubic bone.
Agreed. The four women I have talked to in some depth about penis size have used their hands to show how big certain penises are. Things like, “I had both my hands on his shaft and there was this much and then his head still.” or, “He was this big around.” while making a “C” or an “O” using her thumb and forefinger depending on how much girth she recalls.
