First time Viagra

Hi all,

I was prescribed viagra and tried half a dose (25mg). It worked quite well and counteracted my ED issue I have been happening. Possibly from a urine infection which refuses to go away. (Feeling of needing to urinate but tests are negative)

The viagra worked and sex was great. I was curious if anyone has experienced the same side effects as myself. I’ve noticed that after using 1 small dose, my penis has swelled similar to a session in the penis pump. I’ve noticed it to be a bit more swollen, similar to edema but no pain or anything. I was under the assumption that viagra wears off quite quickly but it is still working days after and not the typical natural erections that I’ve had in the past. Has anyone experienced this before, as if it is still circulating in the system or it’s reset my brain/chemicals in my body? Also the minor swelling type feeling that is a bit soft to the touch and around the skin.

So I’ve never used Viagra or a generic to it, but have used generic Cialis (tadalafil) and tried Levitra a few times. Just for fun and just to do things with my boner that I normally wouldn’t do or can’t do.

I noticed one big thing that was different about my hard on when I took generic cialis. When I got hard while on it, it was like my cock was as big and as solid as it can get right before I cum. I will be solid hard and don’t think I can get harder, but the seconds before I cum as I work through the PONR, I get bigger and harder, somehow. What’s crazy, and related to your question, is that my boners are bigger and fuller for days after the medicine has left my system. first few times I took this medicine it would be 3 days later and I just knew that my cock was “harder” or “fuller” than normal. I came to this self-realized and unvetted conclusion that the medicine “opened” up all the cells in my penis and forced more blood into it than ever before, or at least more blood into it for longer and then its forced to stay inside my penis, so that my next natural boners are just bigger and fuller. I’ve asked this question before—does ED medicine enhance erections after it leaves the system?—and never gotten replies or clear real answers, but anecdotal evidence seems to lead to this as being a reality: ED meds can make more blood go into your penis even when you aren’t on them due to the effect they have on overexpansion of the penis through prolonged erections.

Since you pump regularly, your cock is used to swelling more than normal. The skin, veins/arteries, tissue, corpus, all of it. If Viagra forces more blood into your penis than normal, and makes it stay hard against its will, then Viagra is inflating your cock to your pumped size on non-Viagra days. This is just a theory, but maybe there is something to this?

I find that 20mg tadalafil can last up to if not longer than 48 hours. It might be because my penis gets so used to being able to get hard faster, and therefore more used to more blood in it, that its like the arteries that feed my cock are more “opened up” or something like that, so that I’m able to get harder faster and more fully even 3 days after I first took the pill. I thought it was just placebo working my ego—I just got hard easily so many times over a day and a half, so I’m just in that mode in my mind right now and I’m getting hard really fast because I got used to it while on tadalafil—but after taking this stuff infrequently for the last 8 months, I think it does last in your system longer depending on a man’s health and just how his body works, or it makes getting a natural erection just that much easier because it works on our mental and physical confidence and abilities.

Get copies of the labs the doctor had done, then search the web with something like “UTI tests” or “urinary labs”. It’s possible the doc is only testing for one or two common infections but not others.

If the doc is doing a full set of labs, then it’s time for a urologist. Feeling like you have to go all the time isn’t normal. Some causes could be too much caffeine, “overactive bladder”, weak pelvic floor muscles, etc., which are treatable with diet, drugs, or exercise. But it can also indicate a more serious problem with the bladder or kidneys.

Thank you for your thorough reply pumpedmember. I am definitely feeling a change in the size. I am usually 5.5 MSEG when measuring, but 6.0MSEG after using viagra. I was not sure if this was related to increased blood flow or a form of inflammation due to the spongy added feeling. I am definitely having similar changes that you have listed above and im glad to hear that it could be a positive change in PIs.

I definitely researched all the above as you have mentioned.
I am guilty for caffeine but have been abusing this for years without repercussions.
As for overactive bladder, I do not need to go during the night and can sleep without issue with continuous streams and no difficulty once urinating. The main issue is the tingling sensation feeling of it. I am fine after my first pass and throughout the day. It is only when I get to late afternoon and urinate again and it starts acting up. It’s very odd indeed.
The blood reports have come back saying that my liver, kindey’s and blood work have no issues.
It could be related to weak pelvic floor muscles as per what you have said as I sit all day and maybe some trauma has caused it to flare up.
It is just concerning that after taking a course of anti-biotics that the feeling subsides instantly and returns a few days/weeks after I have finished my prescription.

If antibiotics improve your condition temporarily, these could be symptoms of bacterial prostatitis.
Chronic infections can be stubborn and some are resistant to the most commonly prescribed antibiotics like Doxy.
Cephs like Clindamycin or macrolides like Azithro work better.

Ask your *urologist*.

I used V for a while on and off. When I first started I experienced the same effects. A very plumped, semi erection for days after. Over the course of about a year I became very familiar with the effects of the drug and returned to a more normal flaccid sooner. I felt it was the initial thrill of seeing my body react in such a favorable way that was keeping me sexually charged.
The side effects of V (stuffy nose, red face) became undesirable to me so I stopped. I use Cialis now. It’s less intense than Viagra and no side effects for me.

To the OP, that tingly feeling could be something prostate related. Once I had that feeling too, maybe 8 years ago or so (long before I considered taking any ED meds for rec purposes), and prostate massage helped me within an hour, the feeling went away and never returned. But I agree with everyone here, urologist is who I’d go to ASAP for any of these issues!

I am not sure how old you are but yeah, if the test are negative, your frequent urination is unlikely caused by an infection. Frequent urination is one of the first signs of a enlarged prostate. Has your doctor performed digital rectal exam on you?

No prostate examination as its usually recommended at age 50 onwards.

It only seems to be an issue at the end of the day. Possibly from daily use of the bathroom and prolonged sitting. The symptoms are slowly delaying to later each night which is a good sign.
I don’t need to frequently urinate but it’s mainly that tingly feeling and sensation/urge that a little bit is going to come out which makes me automatically reflex and hold my pelvic muscles.
I’ve dropped off another urine sample and started another course of antibiotics to see what happens. If it comes back again, I think you are correct when saying a urologist may be the way to go.

On a positive note, the viagra works well and sex has been quite enjoyable. I definitely am feeling some extra benefits days after, more plump feeling. I wonder if it is all psychological.
