As far as I care to imagine, my mother was a virgin; and, I think I’ll start inserting Ike into Christmas carols (kind of like I say "under the constitution" instead of "under God" when I say the Pledge of Allegiance.)

Anyway, a few beers, glasses of several good wines and a bottle of strong ale later, I’m pretty pickled.

Present-wise, I got what I wanted — or actually I got the books, tools and other stuff I’ve bought within the last month that my wife wrapped up this afternoon to present to me in front of all the guests tonight. I played along like I had never seen any of it before. Otherwise I got gift certificates. Word is: I’m hard to buy for.

My sons got their first wave of presents from a lesbian "aunt" (then there’s another present opening tomorrow morning with just us, and then another tomorrow afternoon with the in-laws over for supper). Both boys got these Roboreptiles that are a little creepy with the way they move around wagging their tails and screaming incessantly. I think I’ll take the batteries out before going to sleep.

We put out cookies and milk for Santa. ‘Plus carrots for the reindeer. That means I have to get up and write the thank you note before the hellions arise.

Okay…I got the turkey brined; my wife’s stocking is stuffed; unplugged the lights…time to get horizontal. So, Merry Christmas to all, and to all: ‘hope it’s tight.
