To answer your question, I was off PE completely cold turkey for 8 weeks. But prior to that, my PE had been very sporadic (maybe only about 15-20 minutes per week – verses the usual 2 ½ to 3 hours of intense PE weekly). And, of course, there were weeks in which I did no PE at all, and in no week did I do more than maybe 1 hour for the whole week – that went on for about 2 months prior to the 8-week layoff.

I know that it’s been discussed that even sporadic, modest PE can forestall deconditioning, but I doubt that it can completely do this. I don’t believe that my doing maybe 2-3 hours of PE in that entire 2-month span could completely halt deconditioning, when my tissues had become accustomed to doing maybe 20-24 hours during that same time period.

So, I’d say that I did only 1/10TH of my normal PE schedule for 2 months, then went off cold turkey for 2 more months.
