Is girth work REALLY counter-productive to length gains or is this a myth?

There is no such thing as a ‘pure girth’ or ‘pure length’ exercise or routine. Whatever the intent, there is always someone who had either gotten something different or no result at all.

I’m with Insane_Man: “Nobody knows for sure, but I think it’s best to take any increase in size you can get. PE isn’t like ordering a pizza.” If you’re not ready to accept whatever gains you might get, in whichever dimension, you probably ought not risk PE.

And this does come up from time to time. Members will say “I’m long enough! I don’t want more length; I just want girth!” or not want any more girth and just want length. No one can guarantee that gains in one dimension will not also mean gains in the other.

I think the theory that girth hampers length gains comes from the theory that it is harder to stretch a thick rubber band than a thin one. I don’t know that there is a lot more science than that behind it, although there are some statistics, as have already been cited. Correlation, though, does not necessitate causation.

Co-signed.

I was 6” meg pre PE and after 5 months I’ve gained 1.4” in length & 0.125” in meg.

My big girth didn’t stop my ultra fast length gains whatsoever!

And that was all from jelqs & stretches so no magic formula there, just a simple and effective newbie routine applied with a bit of common sense & focused intensity.

Starting stats:- Dec11th2008 7.2"bpelx6" meg.Mar23rd09 8.375"bpel x 6.125"meg. Mar10 8.4" bpelx6.125" meg.

Goal: 8"nbpel x 7" A one eyed monster by any standard :)

I found that when I reached my length goals that the girth gain kind of came along for the ride so I didn’t need to worry about girth. When I did apply girth exercises I gained girth very quickly so I dropped them.

Now BPEL:8 5/8 x 6 5/8 PE Weights

In a word, no. I’ve been able to work on both and achieve gains in each direction.

That’s not a bad approach. If you want length, go for length. The question comes up from time to time, if I go for length, will I just wind up with a long skinny penis? Or worse, a longer but even thinner penis than when I started?

That does not seem to be the experience here. Go for length if you want it, and there’s a good chance you’ll get some added girth to go with it.

If you want more girth later, there are some exercises that seem to favor girth development (although as I wrote previously, there are no ‘pure’ exercises that develop one dimension to the complete exclusion of the other for everyone).

Hello,
I think this theory is wrong, and the explanation is inside the structure of tunica.

The tunica is divided in two level:

-internal level with circumferential collagen fibers.

-external level with longitudinal collagen fibers

And one can’t influence the other.

My theory is :
-if you have length gains in first, so this will be more easy to have girth gains, because the quantity of the circumferencial fibers stay the same.
-if you have girth gain first, the longitudinal fibers stay the same .

I think it’s psychological, because girths gain is more difficult and mostly guys lost their motivation after the newbeegains.

This is my point of view.

No its not.

Uh… no what's not, Stumpy1?

It’s not psychological, or it’s not his point of view?

Oh, I’m sorry. I was saying “no” to the fact that girth work doesn’t hinder length gains. IMO, girth work targets length just as good as length work (well in my case..).

Everyone will respond different. My own history is that Ive gained mostly Girth instead of lenght will doing “stretches. The reason for this is because my body will respond to the force caused by the stretching by making my unit thicker. My Jelqing will on the other hand be both lenght & girth aiding I hope ;)

Judging by your stats and progress, everything on you grows quickly. I envy you, I’d tell you to sit in the corner and think about how you made the hard-gainers feel, but you might slap me with that thing.

Jelq, ADS, repeat.

Final Goal: 8EL x 6.2

Must...think...long...term.
