That may be true, sky, but if I only gained .5” after about 1000-2000 hours of ADS use I would NOT be pleased about it.
I have logged over 650 hours with a homemade ADS at about 1.5-2 pounds of tension. As I see it, the ADS is best applied in conjunction with other exercises. I think Xeno has a pretty good handle on the reasoning behind this. You cause “damage” by jelqing, stretching, clamping, hanging, whatever. Then you apply the ADS for a few hours to allow the tissues to “remodel” in the stressed state. After which, you give yourself some time to heal and rebuild the “damage” initially done. Healing is done primarily during sleep.
The body may want to find equilibrium with the tension an ADS applies. If the ADS is the primary PE practice, and the wear-time and tension are not varied enough, your tissues could build a resistance to such a consistent force and slow your PE gains.
