New Heat Pad For Your Consideration

New Heat Pad For Your Consideration

I went to Target the other day to replace my burnt out Kaz electric heat pad and found they had something new or I had not noticed before. Kaz has a Smart Temp Portable Reusable Heat/Cold Pad that you can heat in the microwave or cool in the freezer. Although the box says it’s dimensions are 9.5"X16" and their web site says it is 9.5"X12", my pad measures out as 9"X14".

I am a pumper and find the pad is excellent for wrapping around the cylinder while pumping, although you could use it for normal hot wrapping. It does get quite hot after the recommended 4 minutes in the microwave, so be careful. The heat lasts at least 45 minutes to an hour.

One more thing for guys used to electric heat pads to consider. This pad is quite a bit heavier then an electric pad. It weighs in at 2.6 pounds. Since I sit back in a couch when I pump, the cylinder and pad are supported by the couch cushion, so the extra weight is no bother for me.

The following web site lists the price at $17.99, but it was only $13.00 at Target. This is what it looks like: http://www.kaz. com/kaz/store/p … 7cd485b1c71a11/

Thanks for the information gprent. My heat pad just died as well. This looks good. I’m going to get one.

Looks like I’m heading to Target this week-end. Can it be heated by alternative means? I don’t like the idea of putting it in a microwave.

Since it was designed to be heated in a microwave, I’m guessing that’s the way to go. What is your problem with putting it in a microwave?

Here’s something similar I found while browsing the net:

Prices are: $1.90, 6/$10.83, 12/$20.52pad
Measures 2” wide x 32” long.

Read on another website they can keep cool for 48 hrs not sure about heat though.

Hi gprent

I went to Target in NJ today and they didn’t have it nor did they show it available in their computer. When I returned home, I double checked on Target’s website and it indeed isn’t shown as available. Maybe it’s a local Target item in AZ. What name was the item sold under? Was it under the brand name of “Kaz?”

Thanks in advance. I sure would like to have one, not only for PEing and Pumping, but for my arthritis. I hate being plugged in to use a heating pad, and the “bean/grain type ones that I have, that are microwavable or can be cooled in the freezer, don’t stay warm or cold for 45 minutes to an hour, which I think would be great.

One picture worth a thousand words. This is the box:

Panos,

On the web site above, you can check out the store locator and look at a list of many stores. If all else fails, you can also click on “add to cart” and just buy it on line, but that is the most expensive way to go.

Thanks loads.
I think to save time I will just go direct to them to buy it. It
really sounds good and just what I need. I’ve been using a warm rice sox wrapped around the cylinder, but this will work a lot better, and be good for my arthritis.

I’ve often recommended microwaveable gel heat pads to guys here; it’s what I started out using before I got an IR lamp. The ones with a simple vinyl cover can often be heated in boiling water as well as in the microwave. In the UK they are cheap and can be found at most chemists/drug stores, in a variety of sizes. Any physiotherapy supply site will have various types in many sizes.

Well, I was unable to locate a store that carried the KAZ SmartTemp, Portable, Reusable, Heat Pad/Cold Compress, so I went directly through
the KAZ website and bought the small 6”x12” one.

Thanks gprent. It really is a great item.

It stays warm for a very long time, pretty close to an hour. So I don’t have to keep heating up my rice sox. It’s small enough for wrapping around the pump cylinder too. And, it’s even pliable enough to be able to use it to massage my unit during warm-downs (after a jelqing or pumping session) which I think is important to do.

Thanks again for bringing it to my attention.

This is something that could be flown in under the radar for those of us trying to do it in stealth. My mind is already starting to conjure up ways to incorporate this into my maintenance routine where wrapping is beneficial.

Well, you still have to either put it into the microwave to warm it, or in the fridge or freezer to get it cold. Since it isn’t electric, with a permanent or detachable cord, it wouldn’t be that stealthy.

It is a gel pack sort of thingy, with a slip cover and a detachable strap with Velcro.

By stealth, I meant that it is something I can have lying around that won’t rouse any suspicion. Hell the wife would probably use it more than me…

Well, I thought that I would report again. I do like the Kaz pad very much, and will continue to use it for my warm-ups.

However, I still prefer the warm rice sox for my warm-downs, especially after my pumping sessions. I have become accustomed to “massaging” my unit “through the rice sox” but this is not possible when using the Kaz pad. It is a bit too thick and “not malleable enough to use it for massaging.” Yes, I could just warm my unit and then hand massage it, but I like the feeling and the warmth of the rice when massaging “through” the rice sox.
