Question about touniquet grip

I’m happy to have finally checked out the big Jelq explanation. I wondered about the dorsal nerve and now know how to avoid it. I’ve been using the palms down grip with the webbing over the nerve to safe effect.

Two questions:

1)I find the you - shape grip for jelqs more convenient. The Jelq page says making an O is not important, just the ability to trap blood and create pressure. With the you - shape grip does’nt all the blood shoot out from your grip at the place where your fingers don’t connect? Any you - shape users out there?

2)It seem to me that in applying a tight tourniquet grip used in the girth exercises that damage to the dorsal nerve can occur. Anyone care to share their techniques and tips for dorsal nerve damage avoidance?

Thanks.
