The end of thundersplace.com (Main)

Mem, it’s the other way around - I CAN LOG IN. Still I wanted to follow Thunder’s advise to request a new password now which I then store somewhere to then use it for the org-site. But since I’d need to delete my cookies to force the system NOT TO LOG IN I was looking for another way to request a new one. Does this sound strange? Maybe the best thing is to wait until the org-site takes over, my cookie doesn’t work and I then will hit the new password thingy. Will this work ? :D

Yes :D

OK your cookies work now. They won’t work when we go .org, so you’ll have to log in again. If you know your password, everything is cool it will still work fine (nothing is changing other than the domain) so you just have to log in afresh. It’s only if you can’t remember your password there is a problem, in which case you can either log out now and request a password or leave it until you are forced to by the domain change as you suggest (yes it will work).

If you can’t remember your password and your email address is out of date, that will really fuck you up on the change over because you won’t be able to request a new password.

Work? I’ll leave that to the other people. Like filling up the wiki, which seems to be a one person thing at the moment.

What will be the benefit, to change from .com to .org?

I was just thinking you could set a cookie with the IP address and avoid the hassle of people not being able to log in. Don’t know if it would work though.

I was very scared by the title of this thread. I assumed we’d just have the wiki, which I’d then have to learn to use. Not sure if I’d feel right posting articles in the wiki without knowing absolutely that I was right… any chance of a Thundersplace exam for that? :D

Anyway, I’m glad its just a change from .com to .org. I assume that’s purely because .orgs are cheaper? Besides, it doesn’t really matter anymore whether domains are .com or .org or even .tv because if people can’t find the right website by using “.com” they’ll just use Google -I know I do! So as long as Thunders still shows up quite high up on Google when people search for “penis enlargement” or whatever, then there’ll still be new users showing up, and those who missed this thread by the time the change happens will still be able to find the new address.

Now I’m off to learn wiki! :p

I think its .org because .com implies a company or desire to profit which Thunder probably wants to make more clear. I doubt he’ll release the old domain because it would immediately be jumped upon by someone
