The end of thundersplace.com (Main)

We are now in the final days of thundersplace.com. All things change and some things are a good change.

You may have noticed that the wiki is on thundersplace.org and now the forum is going to follow where the wiki led.

Shortly, when you come to https://www.thundersplace.org, your request will be redirected to https://www.thundersplace.org. Other than that you will see no change. However, any passwords you have saved in your browser will not work. None of your cookies will work either, so you will have to log in again. If you have forgotten your password, now is a good time to request a new password.

As in all things that have given enjoyment, not only in the form of instruction to better ourselves and our favourite ‘toy’ but in the divers subjects that have been argued at length mostly humourously. Thunders Place will end.

Thank you for a unique and unforgettable experience.

But as you say we now have the Wiki. Most of us will have to learn to use the new form but in the same way we got to grips with PE and politics. It will be a worthwhile effort.

Guys, this wiki thing (maybe it’s the exotic sounding name??) is just a piece of software, on our leased server, that is totally controlled and owned by us. Same deal as when we installed the (hardly used) chat server. Software for our benefit, if and when we decide to use it. The wiki is set now so that only members can add and edit content. This goes against the grain of the concept of a wiki, but we are doing it that way anyway. It was just a thought aimed at organizing (and making less work for the people around here that usually get stuck doing everything) and presenting material in a more user friendly way. A place to send the newbies packing. A place for someone that has been out of the loop for a year or so, to get up to date. A place where I could look something up if I had a question, a place where we could keep updating without cluster fucking. That’s all it is, not some evil underhanded plot by mem and myself, engineered by Twat, to subvert the forum. Does that help?? Want a lollipop too?

won’t the wiki stuff be abused?

Hmmm… if I currently log in automatically by cookie, how could I request a new password without knowing my old one? It seems that the site only offers the feature to be provided with a new password if you’re not logged in already. :confused:

Long time no post (most of the time anyway).

If you can’t log in you hit the send me a new password thingy on the login box and it does (to your registered mail account). It makes one up for you automatically.
