On a similar note, can anyone out there confirm that infrared lamps are safe? I read another post saying they emit UV which is a possible health risk, but I remember researching Infrared before buying my first lamp (now broken) and if I remember correctly everything I read said it was perfectly safe. If someone could advise me it’d be very appreciated.
I sometimes use infrared heat lamps in my clinic, as do many of my colleagues. I have read a considerable amount on the safety of these devices and as long as you do not use them too close to the body (risk of burns) the only appreciable risk is to the eyes. It is not advisable to look at the lamp for more than very short periods, if necessary. It is best not to use lamps for more than 30 minutes at a time and it is vital to keep your testicles covered. If you Google for infrared heat lamps there is quite a bit of safety info.
I find infrared to be both the most efficient (by far) and most convenient source of heat for PE. The biggest danger is when you are first learning to get the distance from lamp to penis correct; it is tempting to overheat the tissues. It is also worth remembering that although tissue will ‘give’ more easily with heat, that can cause a greater lymph build-up in a shorter time.
