I have been hanging for a few weeks now and traction wrapping.I gained 1/4 inch in width at the base (width gain at the base due to hanging seems common) .So if you are hanging and then wrapping it maybe that it will not hurt your girth at all.Maybe you should alternate days off wrapping,For instance focus on girth one day,do not warp the next,hang that day and wrap the next etc.Might work
