Let’s see what PEers have to say about this.

Stretching and more stretching and then some.

Worked for me !

None of the above, chip.

Pumping did it for me.

I added clamping also. Hope it’s ok.

So far manual exercises but I’m measuring in months not yet years.

Clamping…

The poll is flawed because a lot more people do manual exercises so the numbers would lead you to believe a better success rate which may not be the case

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

Seeing it this way, yes you’re right. The post would however be better suited to those who have tried a variety of PE methods over the years and have given reasonable amount of time to each method.

Even in that scenario the poll would be flawed. People tend to do manual exercises first, and gains come more easily at first.

Overall I agree, that is most people first start with manuals, but I for one (though I.’ not representative of the norm), started with extending devices. It’d be interesting to hear from those who have used say two methods, let’s say manual exercises and ADS but not at once, and gave each plenty of time, and alternated between the two over a matter of years, not months—notice how in the headers I mentioned : over the years. If a great deal of folks after doing it this way, made it clear that they derived more benefits from either methods, then it’d give us a reasonable idea of what seems to be most effective at large. One could say : well varying one’s routine has been known to help with gains, and that’d be true, but if one varying between manual exercises and ADS as in my above instance, derived more from manuals over the years (taking into account that one usually spend less time doing manuals in terms of hours/day than wearing an ADS, then it’d be interesting to find out what’s the possible theory behind better gains in less time—worded differently : less would then be more, which has been postulated recently.

I know for instance that some PEers on this board have gained a good deal doing manuals, and I’m not just talking about the first months of PE. However, it’s correct to say that beginners’gains are easy just like one starts lifting weights.
