Homemade Extender the Darknight

I know the word “noose” seems to be a bad word here, but the way I’ve been doing it seems to be working for me (everyone is different though).

I use a couple wraps of 2” wide fabric, centered on the base of the glans (half on the head, half on the shaft). Thick enough to protect me, but not so thick that I loose the “edge” of the glans. (If that makes sense).

I use 1/4” tubing to created a sturdy loop just below the glans. This allows a sturdy support around the glans without having to constrict too much around the shaft.

I’ve recently sleeved a section of 3/8” surgical tubing over the 1/4” vinyl tubing I was using before. This keeps the rigid loop for the support I like, and adds a considerable level of comfort.

Hey guys.. A picture’s worth a thousand words, so here’s a collection of all the “Darknight” images in this thread so far.

Just wondering since the noose seems to be a bad idea can the Darknight be modified to use a bib hanger to get away from the noose?

(Beginning 1/17/11): 6 3/4" (bpel) 5 1/4" (eg)

(Short Term Goal): 7 1/2"(bpel) 6" (eg) (5/22/11) 7"(bpel) 5 1/4" (eg)

I don’t see why it couldn’t be adapted to any type of fastening system. Perhaps if one half of your bib hanger was bolted to or the entire hanger strapped onto the “sled” or ( I don’t have any experience with the bib hanger) maybe there is an easy way it could connect to the top plate without the use of the “sled”.

I do not have a bib hanger or do I hang. I was just thinking that a lot of guys on here use a bib hanger and if they don’t like the noose idea they could use their hanger for multiply uses.

A Bib hanger style extender is worse than a noose actually, since it cut blood flow. Good alternatives to noose style are vacuum cap and comfort strap.

Amazing and good work cantlook. I think these sort of open source DIY projects are awesome.

I have the size genetics extender and am happy with it - the ability to set and stretch at any angle is important to me because I’m using it to correct a curve.

ps - what cad program are you using?

Some more thoughts. It looks like your design is already 90% there compared to the best commercial ones and in some respects already exceeds them, kudos!

A couple of improvements to the size genetics that I’ve already thought of that might be doable in this project. Just throwing them out there off the top of my head for people to brainstorm on.

1) quick release - it’s a pain to get on and off. maybe some sort of lever that could tension / release tension immediately or at least capture latches for the bars (as opposed to the solid tubes you have to stretch to get into like the size genetics). Both the gripper and the extension bars need this.
2) smaller profile for stealth. The goal would be to be able to wear this with tight pants with the outline not showing anything mechanical.
3) lighter weight. I think both #2 and #3 could be accomplished with some creative use of other materials. if you are looking for 3-5 lbs of tension those steel rods are total overkill from an engineering point of view. I know that cost is another important variable, but if you have a local tap plastics store…
4) tension sets length. most of the designs I’ve seen have a way of detecting tension, but i would like to set the tension and have it automatically go to the right length based on that and continually adjust length to provide the set tension. I accomplish this now by monitoring and adjusting the length of the sizegenetics, but would prefer to set and forget.
5) failsafe release or tension limiter. I notice a lot of times my unit may become overstretched as I move about. #4 and #5 might be contained in the same mechanism, ie set the tension and never go over it, sort of a shock absorber and limiter.
6) better/stable base. this might be accomplished by custom molds, different materials, etc.

Wow, excellent presentation! You seem to be very skilled with 3D design and animation. Profession or hobby? :)

Like most people here, I’m put off by noose.

Also, getting the supplies is much more difficult here where I live, you Americans have got it all easy thanks to eBay, McMaster-Carr, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc. :p

Thanks for the feedback, I’m thinking I should have called this “darknight” beta version 0.1

As for the CG modeling I’m using Cinema4d which I learned as a professional hobby.

My mind is all over the place on a strap system to replace the noose. I just want it to work and look good before I unleash it on you all.

Cantlook your signature is awesome just busted out laughing when I read it got a few weird looks.

Two questions (sorry if were asked before and I missed) : how much the device weighs? How much tension can provide?

Cool. :) I used to work in Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max and Bryce back in the day, but I was an amateur. My days of 3D are long over.

Marinara - it’s not the lightest I would imagine as I have added rubber for extra comfort. I don’t have a scale that will measure it’s weight (my scale cuts out at 2 pounds).

The springs I used can create a tension anywhere between 0 and 8 pounds.

Wow that’s a lot of tension. Commercial extenders can’t go higher than 5 pounds at most, I think.
