I use both, and the effects are the same. It’s the vacuum.

The vac pressure causes expansion of the glans (glans and shaft when pumping) and also results in expansion into (reduction of) the urethra and urethral meatus (opening). This restriction causes the urine spray. Options at this point are: sit when peeing (be aware of spray from under the seat); use the shower (make sure your wife isn’t around); or get a funnel and hose.
I use a tube to pee through. Actually, it’s a “crevice tool” for a vacuum cleaner. The round end is 1-1/4” in diameter; only the meatus actually has to go inside the tube. The tube pinches down to a narrow slot at the end. Urine basically dribbles out. If you try to use a round tube, urine comes out in a circular spray like a lawn sprinkler after following a spiral path down the inside of the tube.
I have three of the tubes, which were $5-ish on eBay. They come in 6 or 14 inch lengths, which seems to be some kind of standard. I have one in the bathroom, one out in my workshop, and one in a ziplock in my “away bag” I carry when I’m out of the house very long.

When pumping I occasionally insert a sound into my urethra which prevents the reduction of the urethra and prevents the spraying. I don’t think this could work for a vac chamber as the sound sticks out an inch or so.
There are some penis plus plugs which have very thin heads; basically just a shield to keep the plug from sliding all the way in, instead of the often-fanciful shapes commonly used.
I also have some rubber sounds I’ve thinned the heads of. They work fine with my vacuum ADS. Most of the rubber sounds have a domed head. If you try to use them as-is they put an uncomfortable amount of pressure on the tip of your glans when vacuum is applied. I notice the additional pressure with the thinned-out sounds, but it’s not that bad.
A disc or belt sander is quick and efficient when working with rubber, but you can also use a razor blade. I recommend a new one. If the blade starts binding in the cut, water works well to make things slippery. Working on a wet rag or sponge helps unless you have three hands or a helper.
The standard length for sounds seems to be 1/3 meter, or a bit over a foot. I have a short flaccid, and wound up shortening mine to keep them from bumping my prostate when moving around. There are also some I found that was only about 6” long; they’re straight with a sort-of hexagonal cross-section instead of the usual bumpy-round shape the rubber sounds usually have.

Do you tape your glans before entering the vac chamber, and if so, is it possible that a piece of tape or glue are obstructing your meatus?
Before I got meatal stenosis, I had a problem with my meatus sometimes not wanting to open fully, like it was sticky. Pulling at it with my fingers before urinating helped. Not 100%, but better than nothing.
