Simple way to convert noose or strap extender into a vac extender for ADS
Hey guys, just want to share with you how I convert my noose extender which I bought years ago from a German company into a vacuum extender. I wear it when I’m at home as it is not stealth to wear outside the home. But this vac extender provides constant stretching force that I like, and that I can record my progress periodically as I extend the rod length slowly and incrementally.
Materials:
1/2”x1/2” poly alloy elbows (2)
1/2” stainless steel screw eye (1)
round rod wood dowel 5/16” (~1.5” long)
Sand paper -fine to medium
All the materials are bought at Home Depot and shown in the picture below.
Method:
1. You need 2 pieces of elbows. Use a pliers to twist away the tiny plastic hook appendices from the elbows. Use sand paper to smooth the sharp area after you remove the plastic hooks. You can use the elbows as is, or shorten them a little to fit the width/vac cup size of your extender. I trimmed one piece with a miter saw. See pictures.
2. The wood dowel comes in 48”. You only need to cut about 1.5” or so to fit the width of the extender to accommodate the vacuum cup sizes.
3. Use 2 pliers to hold and grab on a screw eye to open the close loop just enough to make a hook (to attach the vacuum cup). Hand-screw this stainless steel hook on center at the mid-length of the 1.5” wood dowel.
4. Insert each end of the dowel into an elbow. The elbow ends meet at the metal hook. As you see in the picture, I wrapped a piece of masking tape on the dowel to make the elbows fit snugly, but you can use some super glue if you like. Now remove the old plastic top that came with the original extender, and insert your new plastic top into the metal rods of the extender, and you’re in business with a vac cup of choice from various PE vendors.
Note: I had to use extra metal rods from another extender I bought on eBay in addition to my original rods. The elbows fit well in these rods.
