As for finding a machine shop that will take on prototype projects….
Most shops are production oriented. They don’t want to mess around with onesie - twosie projects. The vast majority here in the Seattle area won’t even talk to you because all they do is aerospace work. Most shop rates start at $150 - $250 per hour depending on the equipment they intend to use to manufacture with.
I’d suggest you find a small one man. Someone who’s a sole proprietor.

Tungsten is difficult to machine. It’s very hard and can chew up tooling very fast.

Everything you said about the tungsten weight is what exactly right aswell, back to the drawing board.
Do you think this would even work LG? Having 2 kgs hanging from your flaccid for about 8 hours a day?

A lot of these ideas are going to be hard to make a reality, I was thinking just a simple design like two rentangle pieces of Tungsten with 2 holes drilled in them then you can attach the tungsten to the penis to create a ADS.

No designing or drawings just 2 pieces of tungsten and we have our ADS, still will encounter issues like were will I buy the tungsten, the price and actually getting someone to drill a hole in the metal with like what LG said tungsten is very dense and will chop up a normal drill

Is tantalum a thing? I see its density approaches titanium, yet:

I’ve been a machinist for 45 years. I think I’ve machined every type of ferrous and non ferrous metal you can think of, along with tool steels and semi-exotic metals like Molybdenum. Which is in my opinion the worst stuff imaginable! It doesn’t cut…. it tears and it destroys the best carbide and ceramic inserts available.

I machined the stuff all day long back in the early 80’s and the only thing that we found that allowed us to machine the stuff was to flood it with a 50/50 mixture of Trichlorethane and lard oil while machining. Before the 90’s Trichlorethane was banned in California and we couldn’t use it any longer. Nobody that knows anything about the stuff and how difficult it is to machine will touch it or any alloy that has a percentage of it.

An old tool makers way of putting a hole through very hard metal that couldn’t be drilled was to use a “sink EDM” and burn a hole through it with a carbon electrode in the size and shape of the hole or object you wanted to burn through.

Nice LG I’m now shopping around looking for someone that has tungsten and can machine it, the people on China sell tungsten cubes 1 kg that they cut to size. All I need is a rectangle cut to size with 2 holes drilled and I’ll be good.

Why not just use lead and plastic coat it ?

The main thing is that 1 kg of tungsten is really small because of it being so dense almost the same density as gold, so a small piece would weigh a lot and also be very small at the same time.

I think it is. Because the space in there is so small (in the pant leg), you need to maximize all available volume. On the other hand, my initial thoughts were lead and PlastiDip, which is so soft to form and basically costs nothing. I might end up there.

If it is so heavy, expensive and difficult to machine does it make sense to drill holes in it ? That’ll cost money and reduce the weight.

Can’t you attach something to it another way ? Glue, stick on velcro, silicone tubing, is it magnetic ?

I posted this on another thread, but just in case you haven’t see this yet…
I made a 1 lb weighted ring out of some remnant material I had laying around. It’s a leaded stock (12L14) so it’s heavier than a normal carbon steel that’s the same size. It’s held together with two 20 lb magnets (they’re actually too strong). I’ve order some more material and magnets that are not as strong @ 6.8 lbs of pull.

I’m planning on making another ring that is 1.5 lbs to test. Then if testing works out well, I will make four different sizes to fit the four different Girth Bands that we have. Based on the width of the ring I believe I would easily be able to hang with two, maybe even three.

Once I settle on a proven design I will have the rings electroless nickle plated or black oxided to prevent rusting or corrosion.

I did a one hour hang session yesterday with 10 lbs. Afterwards I wore the 1 lb ring for two hours just above the glans and it felt great. Then I moved the ring to mid shaft and wore it for another two hours…. no problems, it’s the perfect ADS after a heavy hang session. I believe 2-3 pounds will hold just fine. The fit was perfect, it has a little compression on the shaft and the Girth Band helps keep it in place with good grip. I experienced no compromise in circulation.
