Re: the Grip
Hey johnny 2,
Basically in a word, the grip slipped to much. I used it for years off and on but when it worked right was rather comfortable (but that was on a good day). Yeah, 8 lbs is about it’s limit. I hit 9 lbs for a little while but slippage would soon set in etc. The big problem with it is holding a vacuum consistantly. The G flex sleeves wear out or stretch out of shape over time so that becomes a problem as well. Actually though, I really did like the Grip, it has it’s faults but I got a great stretch all the way to the base and could easily go full 20 min sets with no problems, if slippage wasn’t happening of course. I finally just gave up the grip one day after it wouldn’t hold for yet another set.
The Grip compared to the Bib. Hummmm, well I just got the Bib almost 2 weeks ago so not sure if I can do a good comparison but will try.
The grip was pretty comfortable using around 6- 7.5 lbs and working good (holding vacuum well) and I liked that about it.
The Bib is very different in that I’ve had to get use to hanging from the shaft instead of the head. With that said, at times the Bib has been rather comfy too.
I’ve been playing with it since the purchase and Bib has helped a whole lot with my questions but head pressure is still a concern. It seems a little more technically challenging, for me anyway. Finding the “sweet spot” with adjustments is the biggest thing I’ve found. Slippage or riding down torward the head seems to play a big roll in head pressure as well. Still working toward mastering that issue.
I will keep working with it and adjusting till I find the right spot. The big thing that’s good about the Bib is that there is room to grow “girth wise” from jelqing etc. The Grip is limited in that area. You would have to buy bigger sleeves to accomadate the increase in girth, more money to spend!
With the Bib you would simply widen the girth of the hanger and there you are. After now using to different type hangers I think there may not be a perfect hanger out there. Some hangers seem to work perfect for some while not for others, just work with what you have and do the best you can is my motto these days.
Hope this helps,
