How to remove skin soreness while hanging

Re: the Grip

Hey johnny 2,

Basically in a word, the grip slipped to much. I used it for years off and on but when it worked right was rather comfortable (but that was on a good day). Yeah, 8 lbs is about it’s limit. I hit 9 lbs for a little while but slippage would soon set in etc. The big problem with it is holding a vacuum consistantly. The G flex sleeves wear out or stretch out of shape over time so that becomes a problem as well. Actually though, I really did like the Grip, it has it’s faults but I got a great stretch all the way to the base and could easily go full 20 min sets with no problems, if slippage wasn’t happening of course. I finally just gave up the grip one day after it wouldn’t hold for yet another set.

The Grip compared to the Bib. Hummmm, well I just got the Bib almost 2 weeks ago so not sure if I can do a good comparison but will try.
The grip was pretty comfortable using around 6- 7.5 lbs and working good (holding vacuum well) and I liked that about it.
The Bib is very different in that I’ve had to get use to hanging from the shaft instead of the head. With that said, at times the Bib has been rather comfy too.

I’ve been playing with it since the purchase and Bib has helped a whole lot with my questions but head pressure is still a concern. It seems a little more technically challenging, for me anyway. Finding the “sweet spot” with adjustments is the biggest thing I’ve found. Slippage or riding down torward the head seems to play a big roll in head pressure as well. Still working toward mastering that issue.

I will keep working with it and adjusting till I find the right spot. The big thing that’s good about the Bib is that there is room to grow “girth wise” from jelqing etc. The Grip is limited in that area. You would have to buy bigger sleeves to accomadate the increase in girth, more money to spend!

With the Bib you would simply widen the girth of the hanger and there you are. After now using to different type hangers I think there may not be a perfect hanger out there. Some hangers seem to work perfect for some while not for others, just work with what you have and do the best you can is my motto these days.

Hope this helps,

ini9,

Yes that was infact helpful. It seems the reason why people who use the grip post surgery is because of its limitation in weight that you can use with it. It seems because you are using suction there is not much of the head pressure issue there. That really sucks you can only go upto 8 or 9 pounds, I guess if you wanted more you would have to go with the bib.

Thanks,

Bib

Johnny2,

Just wondering if you are considering the Grip? If so, you may have better luck with it than I. You might also be interested in looking at the Tracman device and/or this device at https://www.dash.uk.com. Both use vacuum to hold on to the whole shaft instead of just the head like the Grip.

If you haven’t see these hangers they both pretty much work the same way. The second device (The PowerStretch Max 10) cost $290.00 US dollars!! The Tracman seems pretty good ($400) and a guy here on the board says he loves the device. Both device makers claim to hold up to 20 lbs.

As I said, the only thing about vacuum devices is they are very tricky to get to work right. Custom made dosen’t always mean a custom fit! That leads to problems real quick when trying to get gains.

To be real honest, the Bib takes some getting use to but I think given enough practice it can be mastered. But for shier consistancy and repeatability I think it would be hard to beat the Bib hanger. And the cost is very resonable (I have the Bib Starter). I would not pay $290 for something that might or might not work.

Just my humble opinion.
Good luck either way!

First, what is your native language? Maybe some of the other guys can help with translations, etc.

Then, you are going to have to give me more information in order to help you. What model do you have, what are you wrapping with, what is your wrapped flaccid girth measurement, what is the settings on the hex nuts, is your top gap smaller than the bottom gap, etc. You have told me nothing that gives me a place to start other than it slips.

Probably the best thing to do is tell me exactly, step by step, how you are wrapping, adjusting the hanger, attaching it, and how much weight you are trying to hang.

In order to get the hanger to work properly, you are going to have to gain knowledge, both about hanging in general, and how the hanger works.

Bigger

Is it absolutely necessary to use a wrapping with the hanger?

Nevermind, I figured out the theraband. Those drawings were a great help. Thx.

Back to the soreness problem

This is an old thread but for those that read it I wanted to add something I learned from Monty. The PE weights video suggests adding a little talc/baby powder before wrapping. This can help if the soreness is caused by friction. If wrapped correctly, this should not add to slips but could help protect the skin using ADS or heavier weights.

Also Emu Oil seems to heal my skin and penetrate it faster than anything else I have tried.
