Message for Bib

Bib,

Those of us that are new to the boards don’t have to be here long to begin to understand that you are a legend in these parts. Some of us are committed to the on-going PE effort and you will see our postings here on a fairly regular basis. I, personally, have been trying to get one of your hangers for a while now. I might be perceived as being foreward, but is there any possibility that you could make a few for members of this forum? I know that you took a lot of orders on your web site and are busy making them at home. I also suspect that you have other things to do than just mass produce hangers. However, there are a number of us that are serious about hanging and would rather have your Bib hanger than try to make the version in the drawing you posted. Thank you if you do decide to help us and thank you still if you don’t. You have done more for improving the confidence and self-esteem of the common man than you will ever know.

Hell, I am still finishing getting out the mail orders. The order page was only taken down two weeks ago.

This forum and PEforums are the only guys I made them for. Never advertised. Big enough pain the way it was.

I appreciate your kind words and realize there are guys that are being let down. If you can cool it for a while, I will try to figure something out.

There is one guy I have talked to about working with the hangers. Also, BA may be able to do the support and handle orders. Right now, I have to finish, attend to some family stuff, and continue to get my other business restarted. And no, I cannot give you any idea when some more might be made.

Try to make one of Tom’s hangers, or a homemade Bib. Go ahead and get used to hanging. Then, if you want to, you can try a Bib when available.

I greatly appreciate your reply! Like you, I am a business owner and have a family. Time is a fairly precious commodity for me. I have made a hanger (AFB2) r.e. Tom Hubbard’s instructions. I am even modifying his design to solve some problems that I perceive with it. After researching a little and conversing with guys in the forum, I am convinced that your Bib Hanger is well designed and is highly effective - many guys are getting the results that they are looking for. Thank you for leaving the door open. When you get caught up on production and have time to make a few more, I want to be at the front of the line.

Tell me how the making of your AFBv2 went? I am looking to do it this week. How did the heating/flattening of the pipe go?

Also, what mods are you considering?

Hey Buster,

I just saw your location description and had a good little chuckle. I enjoy the levity that members bring to this site. When I made my AFB2 I boiled the gray conduit for about 10 min. and then put it inside a thin piece of cardboard and flattened it in a vise. I first positioned the piece so that the vise crushed the middle. Then, I positioned the piece to crush/flatten the top and bottom to make the entire piece flat. I am working on an idea to add a slight convex () shape to the hanger in order to better distribute the load around the shaft. However, this will be tricky because if there is too much convexity, it won’t grip the shaft tightly and I will have to wrap more (which I don’t want to do). I will be experimenting this week and I’ll let you know how it goes.
